Lenova Yoga 510 Cursor Jump and Closes programs

My new Lenova Yoga 510 machine has this odd behaviour - The cursor suddenly jumps all over the screen and closes all the applications. This is very frustrating and it happends quite frequently. Could someone from community advise what needs to be done to resolve this ?

Hello Sivasakthi,

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try to download the Touchpad and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

See if these make a difference.

 

Also, try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Thank you for suggesting this, I tried the first hald of it , by scanning for the latest drives. There are 25 drivers for my meachine and OS combination. I have implemented Touchpad Driver for Synaptics - 10 and the result is still the same Smiley Sad  If you would like me to try a specific Driver, please let me know the details - I will give it a try.

That`s good, that was one of them, try the Chipset driver here as well.

 

If that doesn`t work, try the static discharge.

Thanks Againm I tried both the static discharge and chipset driver update. Unfortunately it did not help Smiley Sad and it's getting worse, this issue happens quite often. Anything else you could advise ?

In this case, the last resort is the factory reset, Note: Please back up all your data as running this reset will delete any data on your machine

1. Turn the machine off and press the recovery button which is located usually next to the power button. If you have a desktop machine you will need to power the machine back on and keep tapping the F2 key.
2. Use the arrow keys and press enter on system recovery. ( Desktop users can skip this)
3. Select “restore from the initial backup” and then “Next”.
4. Click “start” and accept the warning messages.
Length of time can vary depending on the speed of the machine.

 

If this does not fix the issue, then it means this is hardware related, in this case, you will need to contact your local Lenovo support line for a possible service on the unit. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Before I go through the pain of re-setting the PC

 

I can confirm that I am exactly facing the same issue as reported  by this consumer in this link

So, is this a hardware issue then ?  could you please advice ?  - can the unit be replaced ?

Update - to test this , I have disabaled the touch screen now nearly for 24 hrs and did not face the issue.

This looks to me a like a similar problem reported https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-3-14-Ghost-touches-on-touch-screen/td...

 

I think the solution is in https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht103512

 

However the solution is more specific to model and LG Panel, mine uses different monitor I guess  ?  - please advise next steps ?

It's quite frustrating that there is no response to this, next - the solution offered is to reset the laptop without considering the pain of doing that whilst clearly there is enough evidence that this could be software from the links provided- Is this the level of support that lenovo pay back to it's customers with warrenty cover (?), I would be reluctant to buy another lenovo product/ recommend anyone..!
