Lenovo 730 Speaker tinny / static

2021-06-03, 0:05 AM

Yoga 730-13IWL Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 81JR

My speakers, or more accurately possibly only my right speaker, is putting out a very tinny or static-y sound, making all audio at a minimum unpleasant and sometimes intolerable and indecipherable.  This is also audible on the various chimes that the computer makes at start-up, etc.

RealTek driver is up to date.

This is particularly problematic with all the video conferencing I'm doing of late.

Hello @kjrst9

Welcome to the Community Forums.

For isolation, would you have the same issue using a BT headset or external USB speaker?

Check if there is the same noise when connected to the charger and when only on battery.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Dex

It happens whether I'm plugged in / charging or not.  It does not seem to happen with headphones (the plug-in kind, I don't have blue tooth ones).  Thanks for the follow up questions.

Hi kjrst9,

Thanks for the response. It might appear that this could be a faulty speaker since the issue is not present in other audio output. Can you try to run diagnostics on the unit and see if the scan might pick any problem related to speakers. Don't forget to take note on the final result code, you are free to include that in your response.

Let us know.

Regards.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I ran diagnostics for Audio and it gave me no errors.  (Result Code:WAU0000300000-RH8A8F)

I also ran "audio controller" (because I wasn't sure what that was) which it also passed (Result Code:WAC0000700000-RH8A8F)

Hello @kjrst9

Seems that all passed and that it doesn't show on an external speakers may point to the internal right speakers only as an interference and not a drivers issue.

Perhaps you can have the technical support team informed of this specially if you also have disabled playback enhancements too.

Regards,

Dex

Thank you.  I will inform tech support.  Disabling enhancements doesn't help.

Hello @ lenongvo!

Thanks for posting here at the Community Forums!

Have you already tried to perform the steps that were given throughout this post?

Also, please share here your device's MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications.

It's located within the device's label/sticker or its original packaging and does usually have a format of 8********R as an example.

And does this only happens as well when using a specific app or doing a specific activity?

Please try recording a short audio clip first using the Voice Recorder app for like 10 to 15 seconds then play the recording and see if the right speaker will play it properly.

Thanks,

Adriel_Lenovo

Yes, I tried all suggestions in this post to no avail.

Product number: 81JRCTO1WW

Problem happens regardless of audio origin (iTunes, web, voice recorder, windows notification chimes)
