Re: Lenovo Companion issues Win10 Yoga 2 13

Hello,

So I found Lenovo Yoga Mode Control for Windows 10 (64-bit), versions 1.0.0.5 and 1.0.0.9, in the Yoga 3 and Yoga 3 Pro sections.

I guess the 1.0.0.9 version is the latest (1/27/2016), and I tested it on my Yoga 2 11:

http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/downloads/DS104485

I can say everything is working fine, and I can run Transition at the same time, which is working fine too.

So, if anybody wants to install the latest Lenovo Yoga Mode Control for Windows 10 (64-bit) 1.0.0.9, without having to install Lenovo Transition, you know you can.

Hey, thanks for the test mate. I was just considering whether to try it. I wonder why this hasn't been put on the Yoga 2 pages? The only bit of Lenovo's software you actually need and they forget it? Crazy.

UPDATE:

I've got rid of the old service and transition software. The utility did not work for W10 anyway, if it was running it did odd things unless you turned off all the options (best to just stop it running of course). The YMC service is all you needed from it.

This W10 version is an updated version of the service (the one with the Yoga 2 Transition software is 1.0.0.1 I think). It works fine, and with no bloat at all.

So, all you need for a W10 clean install on a Yoga 2 13 or 2 11 (except drivers & firmware) is:

- The above linked YMC service

- The Yoga power manager software

I add the last one because it enables you to service your battery and do a dust blow which you couldn't do otherwise. I also like its power management style. It isn't bloated either.

So, the only stuff you need from Lenovo now is actually their least bloated stuff, and all useful. Question answered.

Thanks everyone. I might have to do a clean Win10 install anyway, because this problem of freezing up when I plug in the AC adapter did not go away when I rolled it back with System Restore.

Frustrating, I borked a perfectly fine-working system by running official Lenovo updates.
