Lenovo Thinkbook 14 Screw

2021-07-08, 3:08 AM

I bought a new Lenovo Thinkbook 14 laptop. Recently, when I casually looked at its bottom, I found that the screw in the centre was missing. All other screws were there except the one at the centre, where only the empty screw hole was seen. What's the size of the screw that suits my laptop? Can I get one from a local electronics retail shop & just screw it in myself? If so, please tell me the size of the screw I need to buy

All the screws securing the lower case are M2 x 5.0 mm       Here is one source, but you might check local computer repair shops in your area (they usually have them), because the shipping from the US will be much more than the price of the screw.

Thanks for your quick reply. I now know the size of the screw I need for my laptop. But, the website which you have attached shows so many varieties of the screw, like zinc flat head, pan head, captive partial thread, zinc wafer & so on. I don't know what these terms mean. Can you be more precise about the screw that suits my laptop?

I don't have Thinkbook 14 check, but I would guess that the the one linked below is the right one for your system.   The Nylok coating is a thread locker applied to the thread that keeps the screws from backing out (similar to Loctite) and the wafer head (flat bottom) is a common screw used on covers, because a machine screw with a tapered head would split the case.
