Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

My Camera isn't working. I cannot change the privacy setting because my Lenovo Vantage camera settings are missing. So are the drivers for my Camera. F8 doesn't do anything (just keeps showing "no camera" icon)

I suspect this has to do with an update pushed on 2/13.

Even before this, my camera would randomly switch back to privacy setting "on" whenever Lenovo pushed an update. SUPREMELY FRUSTRATING.

Re: Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

Windows Update now has the camera disabled by default.

Go to Start > Settings (gear icon) > Privacy > Camera and make sure it's enabled.

Re: Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

See if you can do a System Restore back to a point when you know the camera was working.

It would help to have a detail list of what you HAVE tried so as not to waste your time suggesting things you've already done.

Re: Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

I am having the exact same issue, I went to my window's settings, restarted, prior save point. the camera doesn't even show up under heardware settings. I don't seem to have any imaging devices in my device manager: see uploaded document. It leads me to wonder if I need to reinstall my camera drivers. If so can you help with that?

Which model computer?  Was there a point where the camera DID work?

Are camera privacy settings "off" in both Vantage and Windows?

Re: Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

and another one!

i have this issue about half a year now.

it did not affect me that much, because i do not really need a webcam. i just accessed it for a skype-meeting a year ago and it worked perfectly i remebemer. but now i need it as soon as possible and it's not working at all. the problems are exactly the same as described before:

- the camera isn't showing in the devices manager

- i cannot access it with any program

- it's not showing up in lenovo vantage

- funny part: when i use a headset for gaming, the mic is turning off every 5 minutes and i have to reconnect it. privacy problem?

i tried:

- to reinstall drivers / scan for missing drivers

- to activate it with a key (did not found one on my Y910)

- to activate it through bios (did not found any help there)

- to de-/activate privacy settings in windows

- to knock on the laptop-cover (several times)  ;-)

I don't really like to go back on a restore point, because in 99% windows will **** up a lot of things and nothing is working properly after that rollback.

any suggestions, how we can get back the camera? any regedit-files that we can edit, to bring back the cam?

cheers

Re: Lenovo Vantage Camera Settings Missing

Thing is, without attempting a reset or even a prior system restore point, it's tough to tell if it IS a Windows issue or mechanical.  Yeah, system restore or resets can come with unintended results, which it's always a good idea to back the computer up before attempting. Also a good idea to check your BIOS version before rolling back, too. Make sure it's the latest.

That said, in my experience, both options work better in Win 10 than in 8 or 7. I've even had Windows Update wreck things, only to roll the computer back, let it take the update again, and everything's fine. (Note, this doesn't include 1809, which wrecks a lot of things, so I'm avoiding it, completely on both my 910 and 920).
