Lenovo YOGA 510-14AST (80S9) - Upgrade.

2019-06-08, 14:36 PM

Hello community!

I thinking about upgrading my Lenovo YOGA 510-14AST 80S9. And I have a few questions:

1. The main question. Is it possible to replace a default HD 720px display to a Full HD 1080px (or higher)?

2. How many DIMM slots this laptop have? One?

3. What is the maximum amount of memory I can install?

4. There is a standart space for a 2.5" hard drive? So I can change HDD to SSD, right?

Thanks!

See page 75: There seem to be some FHD options (item #3). Probably not an easy job to swap one in, or how easy it would be to source one.

2. How many DIMM slots this laptop have? One?

See page 27: One.

3. What is the maximum amount of memory I can install?

See page 27: 16GB.

See pages 72-73. As there are SSDs listed (item #11), you shouldn't have a problem as long as it physically fits the space.

Thanks!

Good day!

Please see the hardware manual for detailed information.

Re: Lenovo YOGA 510-14AST (80S9) - Upgrade.

I still have questions.

My Lenovo YOGA 510-14AST 80S9 has an "MB C 80S9 WIN A99410 UMA BL" motherboard with AMD processor.

I want to replace this motherboard with another one with Intel I7 processor.

I read the Hardware Maintenance Manual and there are listed models of motherboards with I7 processor. But in this manual I see motherboards for models 80S7 and 80S8, but there are no motherboards for model 80S9.

Questions:

1. Are the parts compatible between 80S7 and 80S9 laptop models?

2. Can I replace my motherboard on AMD processor with another motherboard on Intel I7 processor?

3. If yes, are these motherboards suitable for my laptop model? -

MB C 80S7 NOK UMA I7-6500U BL   5B20L45850
MB C 80S7 WIN UMA I7-6500U BL   5B20L45883
MB C 80S7 NOK UMA I7-6500U NBL   5B20L46012
MB C 80S7 WIN UMA I7-6500U NBL   5B20L45943
MB C 80S7 NOK M130 I76500U BL   5B20L46065
MB C 80S7 WIN M130 I76500U BL   5B20L45913
MB C 80S7 NOK M130 I76500U NBL   5B20L45930
MB C 80S7 WIN M130 I76500U NBL   5B20L45877

4. What do NOK, WIN, UMA, M130, BL and NBL mean?

Thanks for your help!

I can't authoritatively answer questions 1, 2 or 3. A swap might work if all of the connectors (power, battery, speakers, keyboard, etc) line up between the two MB designs. Also might be a difference in the display panel connectors.

For #4:

NOK = no operating system license in BIOS

WIN = Windows license in BIOS

UMA = Intel integrated graphics

M130 = discrete graphics (presumably)

BL = backlit keyboard capability

NBL = no backlit keyboard capability

Curious... what is your goal for wanting to swap in an Intel board?

Regards.

Hi, I know it is been a while you posted this but I was wondering if you tried changing the motherboard? I am also thinking to change the motherboard of my Yoga51-14AST with another motherboard with i5 or i7. I couldn't find anyone who tried that in the internet?

Many thanks in advance
