Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

Hi

I've been dealing with this issue for a while now and cannot find a forum with the same issue as me.

Whenever I turn on my laptop it automatically says headphones are plugged in even if they are not and will not play sound from the speakers. I have tried reinstalling drivers and nothing has worked. Sound comes in through the headphones, but will not come through the speakers even if I unplug the headphones.

Please help.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Have you tried inserting and then removing your headphone plug several times from the audio port?  From what you have described it almost sounds like a contact is stuck inside the audio port causing the computer to think the headphones are being used. Likewise the audio port maybe damaged.

If you are unable to resolve the problem I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for additional assistance.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

I have tried putting the headphones in and taking he put several times.
Also I have contacted Lenovo support already and they were not the most
helpful. I believe the audio port it most likely clogged or physically
damaged (however my laptop was only 6 months old when this started). Do you
know if there's a way to turn off the headphones and just use the speakers
through the windows software?

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

I'm not an owner of your model, but I suspect that the headphones and speakers are with-in the same circuit.  In other words when the headphones are plugged in it basically breaks the connection to the speakers so that the sound plays on the headphones only.  If there is a problem with the audio port and the port is falsely detecting the headphones are plugged in even though they aren't I don't think a Windows setting will correct the problem. You can give it a try and see.  Go into Windows Control Panel and click on the Sound Icon.  Then right click on the headphones and choose disable. Just make sure your speakers are set for the default device.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

I have tried this and unfortunately the speakers and headphones are set up
together so if i disable it, I am disabling both. Is there a way to
separate the speakers from the headphones in playback devices in the sound
settings?

Re: Lenovo Yoga 2 Headphones/Speakers Connection

The only other thing I can think of is the audio control panel.  I assume you have the Realtek drivers installed and if so the Realtek Audio Control Panel may offer additional options.
