Lenovo Yoga 3.14 Won’t Turn On. Again

I see others have had this problem, but the classic “hold the power button for 10 seconds” trick isn’t working. This has happened numerous times in the past and typically it just eventually turns back on, seemingly with no rhyme or reason behind it. This time, it has been well over an hour. It’s turned on twice, gotten to the lock screen, then turned off again & I cannot get it back on. 

 

It is certainly not an issue of wear and tear-I use it minimally, however when I do use it, I really need it to actually work. 

 

What is going on and how can I fix it??

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.


Sounds like it could potentially be a faulty battery.

 

Does it by any chance indicate any sign of charging? Is there difference between attempting to turn it on from battery and charger?

 

I`d recommend you try to use a different charger with the unit.

When turned on, it operates totally fine; shows when it's charging, shows battery percentage, etc.  Sometimes it will shut off when the battery is completely full, sometimes the battery will be half full, sometimes it will be plugged in; there's no real consistency.

 

Seemingly without rhyme or reason, it ended up turning on about 2 days later.  Since, it has shut off about once every other day, only to come back on within the next couple hours.  From what I've read, sounds like it's a common problem with the motherboard, but I'm not about to sink any more money into a Lenovo.

I see, in that case yes, it will likely be the motherboard.

If nothing else, I`d recommend that you get in touch with your local Lenovo support line, they may be able to help you out perhaps.
