Lenovo Yoga 3 14 power button

2017-03-11, 18:56 PM

Opened up the case housing the motherboard to get at the power to see if I could jimmy it a little bit because I couldn't turn it on. A while ago I accidentally bumped the 1yr old notebook in its case against the desk and since then was having difficulty turn it on needing a little more effort since the time I bought it. About a 3 weeks ago it wouldn't turn on no matter how hard I tried. When I posted a question on how to deal with the first answer was to open the casing to see if I could get at the button easier. I did that, after getting the smallest phillips screwdriver but wasn't able to get the button to work. It is somehow loose and not connecting. I also noticed that unscrewing the housing unit holding the motherboard might make it easier but I have not expertise in this and I don't want to mess things up. I wonder if anyone could get a help with this ,maybe a schematic showing me the parts of the housing unit so that I can unscrew it safely and not messing everything up or any other solution - short of taking it to a specialist. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks!

Here's service training video that shows you how to take apart the laptop. Click on FRU videos on the left: http://lenovolearning.bhivesoft.com/bhive/t/1004/course_launch_frame.jsp?id=7934

In addition, here's the hardware guide for your machine, which also has this info (and a bit more): https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_yoga_3_14_hmm_201502.pdf

Hope this helps ;)

Re: Lenovo Yoga 3 14 power button

Thanks for the help with the manuals , they're helping me alot. I tried removing the I/O board but couldn't do it the first time fully as I am using a public computer and found that some parts were different. I'll try again later. I was though able to lift the board a little bit to get at the connection in between the power button and the housing unit and was able to depress it with the screwdriver and just tinker it with a little bit but was unable to make it work. I wonder if I could find out how this connection works between the power button and computer. Any suggestion. Thanks again!

Typically is a tiny button on the system board, and a piece of plastic pushes down on that button to activate power.
