Re: Lenovo Yoga 500 Keyboard lights not working

Hi Vlad261 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the Machine Number from the sticker label , or try getting it from here .

Based on the ideapad 500S-14ISK Platform Specifications :

Keyboard : 6-row, multimedia Fn keys, optional backlight

Fn + Space (on select models): Adjusts the keyboard backlight (off → dim → bright → off)

Update us with the Machine number to check further.

Regards

What do you mean by machine number? The serial number?

Re: Lenovo Yoga 500 Keyboard lights not working

 Hi Vlad261 ,

Not the serial number , that should always be kept confidential.

Just the machine number , try getting it from here . (Click on the highlighted item ). example : 80Q3009TUS

Ideapad 500S-14ISK have diferent variants and differ from specific machine number when ordered .

Difference mainly on the parts packaged on each variant identified by its Machine number.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Yoga 500 Keyboard lights not working

Looking at the manual for your laptop, it seems like only certain models have backlight. As you mentioned, there is no 'light' icon on the keyboard, which can mean that your keyboard doesn't support backlight. You can check with your reseller for more details.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 500 Keyboard lights not working

It might be that Lenovo preinstalled the Lenovo settings program for its units that don't have backlight...

Sorry, Vlad261, but as has been said, the backlight is an option, and not all models in the Yoga 500 range have it. The only sure way to check is to look at the Spacebar; if that has the backlight icon etched in on the left of the Spacebar, then the machine has a backlight installed. If there's no icon, then there's no backlight installed.

I suspect that the Lenovo Settings app is written for the complete set of functions. Yes, it would be good it the app was intelligent enough not to display functions that don't exist on a particular machine, but unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case. There's usually much room for improvement in the Lenovo apps.
