Lenovo Yoga 510-14isk ram upgrade

2020-02-03, 16:03 PM

Hi

I use Lenovo Yoga 510-14ISK 80S7

Processor Intel core i3 6006U CPU @ 2.00 ghz

4GB ram,64 bit windows 10, 1tb hard disk drive

I want to upgrade the RAM, I am told I can upgrade up to 16gb max

so then do I buy 16gb RAM and take out 4gb RAM chip?

Are these details enough to buy RAM:

16gb, DDR$ 2133, one 260-pin SODIMM socket?

Does this mean I should choose single stick RAM?

Kindly check if my selection is fine so that I can proceed to buying it

Hi mjpj,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Kindly provide the MTM of your machine, so I can look up more information about this machine.

Hope this helps,

Hi mjpj,

Thanks for the information.

The Yoga 510 has only been officially tested using up to 8GB max / 2133MHz DDR4 RAM confirmed by PSREF.

We would recommend sticking with the tested amount to avoid any issues with the machine.

Hope this helps,

Jack_Lenovo1

Sure, I would stick to upgrading from 4gb to 8gb ram only

So, do I buy 8gb ram single stick and replace the existing 4gb ram stick because when I tried to buy 4gb ram stick on this amazon link  below, after entering my model details, it said 'may not fit my model' but said ' fine' when I selected 8gb single stick

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0143UM6Y0/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_wleoEb96P48MH?th=1

And please share any video reference for replacing RAM and your recommendation for cleaning the machine of dust such as using compressed air can

Hi mjpj,

The machine only has one SO-DIMM socket, so you would have to remove the existing 4 GB RAM from the slot.

You can also use this link for disassembly guides and the Hardware maintenance manual for additional reference.

Personally I use a clean rag to clean all my machines but a can of compressed air works depending on your preference.
