I have an ongoing problem with my Lenovo Yoga 700 14isk. When using Windows 10 edge it heats up and gives a high pitched noise. When using Adobe it gets worse!! for most of the time that the fan is spinning, it makes loud grinding noise as if the blade is off balnace hitting the housing of the fan. Laptop is only few months old. The Bios is 22 with no new update on Lenovo site.

Hi MoJo2016 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would there also be some noise in the BIOS?
To access BIOS , shut down the pc and use the novo button to turn on (item 3 page 11).
If same noise is head then fans hardware integrity needs to be check and attended to .
Since you have BIOS ver 22 updated , call in tech support for the necessary service for your laptop.

Seems when additional load triggers fan activity as normal but if noise is apparent when this happens , there may be some cables touching it or simply mispositioned fan.
Update us how things go.

As requested i went into BIOS! fan seems ok, with low spinning. When using Windows edge it really heats and thats when the fan kicks in, it stays loud with fast spinning until i close windows edge. Noramly I have only 3 tabs open, really this should'nt happen for a high spec laptop. Regards to using adobe premiere!! thats when it goes into heavy load as its video editing. When the fan makes this grinning noise (fan hitting fan housing)! It seems to happen when i slightly tilt the laptop, up! on one side.
If i had to send my laptop back to you for service. How long would this take? as i need this laptop for work.

Hi MoJo2016 ,
Definitely mechanical issue then specially if noise is recreated by changing position.
Possible loose parts and if you currently have a depot coverage, sending it may take weeks before having it back and it would be better to have an upgrade onsite service on this cases where onsite tech would be able to visit you once the parts are available within 3 business days.
You may check your warranty type here and possible upgrade to onsite service too .
Update us how you would decide to proceed.

I will not pay more money on upgrading my warranty service for faster turn around on something i should not do anyway.
At the end of the day i have paid a lot of money for this laptop and had good faith in this product and brand before i purchased. This is my 2nd replacment, i had screen issues on first Yoga 700 and had to return it in store for a new replacement within 14 days, I rather have a complete new replacement. I have delt with other brands in the past and they have simply have sent me a new replacemnet.
All i have had from this product is alot of headaches!! first was screen issues and display drive not working and now fan mechanical issue. Also for the past few months, just got my 3rd error yesturday, error code VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE = blue screen death error. So im not really happy with this product and can not wait weeks for it to get fixed, the best thing you can do! to make me have faith in this brand is the customer service.
Sorry to rant abit, but it has caused distress to me with all these problems.

For VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE update GPUs to latest drivers from their respective website.
For fan heating it must be extensive CPU load caused by Edge. Post a screenshot of taskmanager when you have started Edge and have those tabs open.

Hi MoJo2016 ,
I do understand your distress at the moment as I can only provide technical troubleshooting solutions .
Positive side here is that we manage to identify the point of failure but regards to process of warranty repair I would still encourage you to give technical support a call and inform them what we identified and importantly the history as I know that the tech guys would be listening to you.
Both you and the tech team may be able to get a solution that you both can agree.
The demand of running edge (and most likely chrome too) would not be enough to make your model heat up and would not be properly compensated by the heating mechanism not unless that there is a hardware issue as what we manage to isolate. We do have the updated BIOS version also and still have persistent fan noise.
Hope we did manage to answer your technical inquiry about the matter .
Provide tech support a call to have the best options discussed with both of you.
