I have recently purchased the Yoga 710 (14 inch) and am looking to use the SD card slot as additional storage. As I would like the SD card to protrude as little as possible, I would like to know what the depth of the SD card reader is, so that I can accordingly buy an appropriately sized SD card or SD card adaptor.

I have this request too.
I have measured the depth required to be 16mm.
I see products similar for Apple devices but have some bevel on the outside edge.
These also differ in depth depending on the model.
I would imagine these differences might be similar against differing Yogo models; 700, 900, etc..
I'll come back here when I have a better answer.

Having investigated a little further i have decided to order a few items from Amazon to test.
The aim is to maximise secondary storage and be flush with the case to avoid damage.
I'll test using chkFlash and H2testw since they have been useful to me previously.
I've ordered one of these to try since it's fairly cheap.
It does have the required dimensions, the key one being 16mm.
I don't believe the thickness, at 2mm, will cause any problems but we shall see.
It may need a little duct-tape flap to aid extraction.
It does state a maximum of 128GB storage but this might have been written a while ago.
It seems to have the correct pins required for more, I have a few microSD larger than this, so can test.
And one of these but might be a little too long.
It has the best length of the available options, that I can tell.
If I have calculated correctly, it should fit and have the bevel lie just outside the case.
It may need a little filing down to fit properly.
It states a maximum size of 200GB, this maximum seems odd to me.
I can't find a reason for this limitation, 256 might have been more obvious to me.
And one of these, but again might be a little too long.
256GB would a great addition.
I believe this one should fit as the one above.
I hope it can transfer files at the rates it states.
I'll update here when I have finished testing.
It may be a little while since I have quite a few things to cover.

It can be easily removed without any need for tape, just a good finger nail.
The first did work but stuck out 4mm, my calculation sucked.
But a result anyway, 256GB of storage nice and flush.
I returned this and didn't bother with the smalled variety.
I didn't see a need after I tested the next one.
I may have to if 256GB SD don't work in the next.
The smaller one would be this one, worth a try sometime.
It does state a maximum of 200GB, but I can't see why, perhaps its pins differ in someway.
This one works the best for me right now.
I only have a 200GB SD card to test with and it tested wihout any issues.
IT states a maximum of 128GB but also says SDXC, so might be a date issue.
For the price you couln't really go wrong.
I believe it'll work with 256GB but cannot prove this at the moment.
It has all of the pins required so I don't see any reason why not.
I hope this helps.
I look forward to a 1TB solution sometime soon.
That'll be after I upgrade the main SSD though.
Good luck and happy hunting.
