I took the back off and tried the fix that is shown on YouTube but then a few days later the same issue was apparent.
Then I caught that it seems to be related to Firefox. A tab for BBC news had the flicker, a different tab did not. It also seemed to be related to only a section of the webpage that was open, as scrolling would stop the flciker. Chrome on the same page did not flicker. Even in window mode the Firefox tab flickered and would do so with Task Manager open.
All drivers are current and all software up to date.
I turned off the Hardware acceleration in Firefox and the tab was fine after. That said I have seen the issue in another app so I wonder if it is a fault with using the video memory sharing or something like that.
Either way I wish Lenovo would be more proactive in trying to resolve the issue.

I actually think this was hardware related after all. I took the back off and placed a small folded piece of paper over the screen connecter interface and replaced the back so that there was extra pressure being applied to it and the issue has not come back.
I have not had a single flicker since doing that.
Thanks for following up.

Hi, I might want to try this but I'm not sure where exactly to put the paper. I have a yoga 510 but maybe it'll work for me too. Could you send a picture of where you put the paper? I would very much appreciate it

I am loathed to remove the back again as I do not want to undo my fix. I used this video on YouTube as a starting point https://youtu.be/j963M2QNKH0
If you watch that you will see where the screen connector plug is. I used a small post-it note folded 3 or 4 times above the connector. I used a post-it note as the adhesive help ensure the fix stayed in the correct place whilst attaching the cover.
Hopefully the video will help, it would be good to know if the fix works for you also.

If you can also take the extra effort of taking a picture of the steps so we can share the fix as a refererence since this is a good DIY fix without shelling out of pocket.
