Lenovo Yoga 900 13 screen keeps going black for a second or two

As it says in the subject: my laptop screen keeps going dark for a second or two while in use (and plugged in). It's not going to sleep or shutting down; any music playing doesn't cut out, and when the black screen goes away I'm still logged in and my programs are all up and running as they were before the flicker.

Last night while running on battery, it shut down on 18% power and wouldn't switch back on for almost an hour, even while plugged in. I don't know if that was the start of the problem; the black flicker started happening today. I think it's happened three or four times today.

I only bought the computer three months ago and it's definitely not experienced any knocking around or anything.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

Hi, Siavahda               -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Check if issue persist in Safe mode? Also, try updating the video drivers & BIOS .

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13 screen keeps going black for a second or two

Good Morning,

I have been having issues similar to yours. It started with a bad pool header bluescreen of death on shutdown, then moved on to the flashing black screen.

When the flashing black screen became extremely common, I ran the windows memory diagnostic and it failed almost immediately.

I suggest running the windows memory diagnostic and if it fails contacting support for an RMA repair asap.

This is done by searching for memory diagnostic at the start menu search bar. Then click on run now. The computer will reboot and run the diagnostic

Note, if you have bitlocker enabled you will need to enter your recovery key after the diagnostic completes or it will be unable to log the results to event viewer.

Very Respectfully,
