Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

Hello,

This is my first time posting, so please bear with me.

A few days ago, the touch screen completely stopped working. I am also unable to rotate the screen. Navigating to the Device Manager, I see three I2C HID Device drivers, but one of them has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When I click on it, I see the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." Disabling it does nothing, neither does uninstalling it - when they are reenabled or reinstalled, the error persists. There are no drivers that can be updated, and there is no way to roll back to a previous driver as I never updated these due to there being no problems. I assume this is a hardware issue, but I am not sure how to verify this or if there is anything else that can be done.

I have had quite a few problems with this machine, sending it out twice for the same problem and having the same problem occur for the third time (the power button does not work), but I am hoping this is something that is fixable.

Thanks!

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

Hello Ok93

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page. Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I tried downloading and installing the available video download (Intel VGA Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 900-13ISK) and the three available chipset downloads (Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 900-13ISK, Intel Management Engine Interface Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 900-13ISK, Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 900-13ISK) but this issue did not resolve - the error persists in Device Manager and I do not have any touch screen capability. Is there anything else I should try that you might recommend? Thanks!

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

In this case, see if you can run an LSC scan, see if this is able to find anything for you.

1. Please click on the following link

2. Under the section ‘Download’ select the relevant Hyperlink dependant on whether your Lenovo is running Windows 7/8/8.1 32 bit or 64 bit.(Will work on Win10)
3. When prompted, select save and browse to a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded files.
4. Navigate to the folder where you saved the installation file, lscsetup_x86_26001.exe.
5. Double-click the installation file icon to start the installation.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions via the installation wizard that will install Lenovo Solution Centre on your system.
7. Once installed you will have a ‘Lenovo Solution Centre’ icon on your desktop please click to open this.
8. Once solution center is opened please select ‘Checkup’ then ‘Hardware Scan’ and ‘Full Scan’
9. This will take up to 20 minutes, see if this can find any errors.

If this doesn`t help, then see if you can revert back to the previous Windows update, and see if the issue persists after.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

Hi,

I tried running the hardware scan, but everyting came up as "normal". I'm not sure that it tests the HID device though, and I'm not sure how to test the touch screen components alone, because they still remain broken and it remains unresponsive.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK Touch Screen Not Working

Well in this instance then see if you are able to calibrate the touchscreen at all:

  1. On the Start screen, type tablet pc. Then select the Tablet PC tile in the Search results panel.
  2. In the Tablet PC Settings window, select the Calibrate button, as shown.
User Account Control may ask you to confirm that you want to run the Digitizer Calibration Tool. If so, select Yes.
  3. The screen displays lines around its perimeter, forming a box near the edge of the screen and a second box inside the first about half an inch from the edge. Lines connect these boxes near each corner. The result is 16 intersections. Starting at the upper-left corner, use your finger or a stylus to tap each intersection, which displays two short black lines forming crosshairs.
As you touch each intersection, Windows 10 measures your touch and adjusts touch settings accordingly. After each touch is recorded, the crosshairs move to the next intersection to the right. (If the crosshairs don’t move, tap the previous intersection again.)
  4. As the crosshairs move, tap the highlighted intersection, left to right, down, and then left to right again. The process takes much longer to read about than to do.
  5. After you have selected each of the 16 calibration points in turn, a box pops up asking whether you want to save the calibration data. Select OK unless you think something went wrong. In that case, select Cancel.

If the above fails, then see if you can revert back to the previous Windows update, and see if the issue persists after as well.

NOTE: Reverting could erase new programs and files, make sure you always back up your files before a reset or refresh.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Did you get this sorted? I have the same problem - I fear it's a hardware issue.
