Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

Hello, I bought my Lenovo Yoga 900 about 2 weeks ago. The fan is really loud. I have checked Task manager and when the Cpu is at 6% idle it's still loud. So no program is causing this. I have updated the Wifi Drivers and the Bios to no avail I have read several forum posts about this common problem on here but there seems to be no solution. Does anyone have a solution or a idea to try? Before I return.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

Hi there, Lenovoy                   -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can expect higher fan activity during the first few days of a new Yoga 900. During that time, Windows will be downloading updates, and indexing the SSD data. Things should then quieten down.

If things are not quietening down on your system, it may be worth using Task Manager to see what applications or processes are triggering the fan activity.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

Hello I've had the laptop for 17 days and it's still the same. I boot windows up and even at idle with the CPU at 6% and the memory at 17% in the task manager the fan is extremely loud. Any other ideas for a solution?

Had the same issue, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5Y130KTBzM
That fixed it in my case.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

If you have a backup service like Onedrive, or Drive, the computer will keep cycling the files and syncing them on the web. To prevent overheating, the computer will run the fans.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

So what, a laptop at this price can't run dropbox without having to run a loud fan? I feel like it should be able to run silent even when you have the pc running dropbox or onedrive

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

I do not have one drive or drive running. I literally have the desktop running that's it. The CPU is one 11% and the Ram 18% with Chrome open writing this as the most active application and the fan is loud. Please can you advise anything else then just simple things in all due respect I said in my initial post nothing was running on task manager

Re: Lenovo Yoga 900 Loud Noisy Fan

I agree. The system spec for one drive is 1GB ram and a 1.6GHZ processor. This laptop is overkill for that and having one drive open and your fan going nuts is acceptable?!
