Lenovo Yoga 900 - Screen randomly goes black, but system works normally.

2019-11-26, 19:59 PM

I have the same problem like in this youtube video:

My screen goes black at random. When I push the cover between screen and keyboard, right in the middle, the display goes back to normal. When I release, it goes blank. On external monitor everything works fine.

Are there any solutions other than replacing cable (the OP of the video wrote that did not help) or lcd itself?

Hi ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the issue description, looks like it is a hardware issue, but to isolate the issue further, you may observe the screen in the BIOS. To access BIOS, follow the steps in this article: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht500216

If the issue occurs in BIOS, then we suggest contacting our local support to get it fix in accordance of the warranty.

If the laptop is out of warranty, you may seek assistance from third party local service center under chargeable basis.

You may also try reseating/replacing the LCD cable or LCD panel if you are comfortable to do so.

Visit our Parts LookUp website to get the LCD cable and LCD panel part number. To guide you on how to replace the part, you may visit https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505031 or check the User Manual

Let us know if you need additional information.
