Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

Hi at all,

I got a brandnew Lenovo 910 Yoga with newest i7 core and 16GB for christmas.

Now I am a bit in doubt about this laptop because it keeps freezing and lagging a lot when I browse a little in Chrome. When I open 4-5 tabs and stream BBC radio at the same time or load a page with lots of gifs like Tumblr- it hangs up. Mouse freezes, laptop does not respond to commands anymore, takes up to 30 seconds to go back to normal.

I had task manager open to check the pressure on the system but there's nothing going on... CPU running between 5 and 20%, RAM being up to 45% ... so I really dont see a problem here that would cause such a strong laptop to crash....?

I updated BIOS and used companion to check for and install all possible updates there are, but it didnt really help much.

My old Carbon X1 who had only 8GB RAM and an old i7 4th generation core was totally able to deal with my browsing-behaviour, despite being less powerful, so I dont understand what's going on.

Anybody having an idea on where to look for the problem? I am running out of diagnose-ideas.

Thanks and happy new year,

Lisa

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

I deinstalled FB Messenger for Desktop now and I think it got slightly better.

But I still dont understand how this super expensive ultra strong laptop can be inable to cope with a bit of pressure on RAM ... ? As far as I see it, FB Messenger only took up 250MB of RAM and almost no CPU usage.. Shouldnt crash that fast, should it?

Run the event viewer and check under system and see if there are errors there.  Also, download the Lenovo Solutions Center and run a hardware scan.  I think the Lenovo site says the OS and model aren't supported, but it does in fact work on the 910

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

Hi thanks for the hint!

Event log is showing these errors for the last 24 hours:

(I changed the language to english but unfortunately the translated version from german is very poor....sorry...)

Any idea what this actually means? I think time-wise those errors could actually be related to the freezing.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

I googled it - think the 10016 and 7006 are connected with rebooting and should not be connected to my issue.

7006 seems to be connected to my antivirus software AVG- I will try to get rid of that.

7011 - found an entry referring to search and indexing, ran troubleshooter, said that there's a permission problem but could not fix it....

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

I have several errors as well - permissions and a PCI Express Root port issue, but haven't noticed them impacting performance

@ld4795...

Do you see the same behavior with other browsers similarly loaded (# of tabs, etc; IE, Edge, Firefox)?

Regards.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

I am currently testing that with Firefox :-)

As for now I have the impression Firefox is a lot faster and also it uses a lot less CPU and RAM.

Still don't really understand why my old Laptop did not have any issues with it though. But there might be 1000 of reasons Software-wise....

Re: Lenovo Yoga 910 keeps freezing / lagging whilst browsing

I have the following error, which seems to appear along with the freezes.

Sorry for the language, you can find an english version here: https://www.google.it/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=whea%20logger%20event%20...

Image 1.jpg

Event 17, WHEA-Logger

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Bus: Device:Function: 0x0:0x1C:0x0
Vendor ID : Device ID : 0x8086:0x9D14
Class Code: 0x30400

Is that an hardware issue ??
9D14 seems to be the PCIe port to which the WLAN card is attached:

I have the latest BIOS and WLAN driver installed.
