Lenovo Yoga Brightness key stops working

2013-05-16, 1:56 AM

Sometimes, the brightness key will stop working. I can still go into settings and adjust the slider. After a system restart the problem resolves itself for a while but has re-occurred several times.

hi greengrounds,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can try these steps It may be the Power management that's causing this Issue

First I would suggest Do a power Drain

    - Unplug the computer from the AC charger and remove the battery

    - Hold down the power button for about 10 sec. then reconnect Everything

Go into BIOS utility by tapping Fn+F2 or F2 on the Lenovo Screen

    - inside BIOS press Fn+F9 then Enter to load defaults

    - then Press Fn+F10 the enter to Save and Exit

Then Last Re-install the Lenovo Energy Management

Uninstall it first under Control Panel Programs and features

Then try to Download and install this

Lenovo Energy Management for 64-bit Windows
em8.08.0.2.4.exe
45.4MB

Lenovo Energy management is an app that controls the hotkeys

Hope this helps,

Cheers!!

Thanks for the reply!

My battery is not accessible, can I do this without removing battery?

Yes, I did the power drain, reset bios to defaults, unistalled power management, and reinstalled it. Today, woke computer from sleep mode and brightness keys did not work. I have had several recurring issues with the laptop, is it possible to get a replacement laptop or a different model that doesn't have these issues, my computer is still under warranty.

hi greengrounds,

You can try calling Technical Support for assistance

If other hot keys are working fine and within windows you can adjust the brightness level, this issue might be a Hardware concern, They are open 24 hours.

No it's not hardware, like I said it is intermittent and when I reboot the system, the keys work fine. For a few days, but then they stop working again for no reason. After a restart they are working fine again.
