Lenovo Yoga C740 screen brightness is stuck

Hello,

 

My Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML laptops screen brightness just got stuck. None of the brightness controls work and when I move the sliders nothing happens. I tried Lenovo Vantage to see if there are any updates but there are none. Then I checked for Intel's driver updates and found that there is one for the UHD Graphics but my pc won't let me install it since it is not a driver provided by the pc manufacturer. I also tried to disable and re-enable the screen via device manager but nothing happened. I've done multiple restarts on the pc.

 

So now my laptops screen is stuck on 100% brightness and it won't change.

Hi ,

 

Greetings!

 

When did the issue start? Were there any changes or updates prior to the issue? 


We suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the display adapter and update the BIOS. You may follow the steps below.

 

1. Open device manager

2. Expand Display adapter

3. Uninstall intel display driver 

4. Check delete software driver if prompted then restart the laptop

5. Go to Lenovo Support Website to download the updated display driver and BIOS.

Hi!

 

Before doing this I rechecked all Lenovo Vantage and Windows updates and there was a new Windows update available. After doing that I was able to change the screen brightness again. So it seems to have been a Windows update related issue maybe.
