Lenovo Yoga C940 4K chocking on videos

2021-05-21, 12:09 PM

Hi

i have a lenovo C940 4K for the last year

Recently i noticed that the laptop become slow or chocking during Zoom App or during watching video on youtube with just HD (especially if i have multiple open tabs) in Firefox or other apps

Any idea why now and why it become slow or chocking during simple operations ?

I though that IRIS PLUS should handle video without any problems

Thanks

Hello @ Arigo_saki!

Welcome to the Community Forums!

Can you please provide us your Yoga C940's MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications?

It can be seen through the device's label/sticker or its packaging and does usually have a format of 8********R as an example.

Are you also experiencing this issue when playing/launching a saved video?

Try disabling the hardware acceleration of the web browser that you're using first then play a video content again and observe its performance.

Also, check if there's an available update to the apps that you're using as well as the browsers and download/install it.

You may also connect the Yoga C940 into a different Wi-Fi network for us to see if there's an issue with the connection speed/strength as well.

Thanks,

Adriel_Lenovo

Thanks for responding The label of my computer is 81Q90056IV, I7 core 10 GEN 16GB Ram and 4K screen. I have this issue in the last few months when using youtube especially if i open a few tabs) or other websitse, also when (as mention before) using zoom app and at the same time try to open other app like web browser, outlook or even excel then i see that the mouse movement start to chocke or be slow.

I didnt try yet saved video because i don't have any video.

My wifi is very powerful about 1000Mb, so it should not be the problem.

All my apps are updates to latest versions

I also try to disable hardware acceleration in firefox too, but sadly without any particular different

Thanks for providing an update @ Arigo_saki!

Try starting the device in Safe Mode (with networking) and test if it'll still provide issues when playing videos in 4k.

You may also provide a short video clip in here for us to check.

Roll back the update then block them permanently.

Between Windows poor updates and Lenovo's poor drivers this machine is a disaster.

Get it to a working state then never update anything again.

Thanks for providing an update @ Arigo_saki!

Please try updating your device's Display (GPU), BIOS, and Intel Chipset drivers, restart the device and test it again.

See if it's still the same even when hardware acceleration is disabled.

Also, try loading BIOS into defaults by pressing F9 or FN + F9 then highlight/select YES followed by F10 or FN + F10 then highlight/select YES again.

You may access BIOS Setup by pressing the Novo button hole that's located underneath the device.

Make sure that it is turned OFF first before pressing.

Thanks,

Thanks for responding @ Arigo_saki!

Were you able to update the drivers that we have provided on our previous response as well as loading the BIOS into defaults?

If the answer's YES, try to enable/disable the hardware acceleration again and check if the issue will still occur.

Based on this previous post, this has been identified by Microsoft already and has addressed it through a Windows Update fix:

2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB5003173)

With this, make sure to check and run Windows update and download/install it as well.

You may click on this link to see the steps on how you can update Windows OS.
