Make sure Windows is up to date, install this then reboot. Has worked for everybody else with the same issue.

Engineering have been investigating this issue and we would like to express our thanks to all who have made efforts to resolve with investigating different potential solutions and also making constructive suggestions for others. In order to better reproduce, diagnose and resolve the issue engineering is looking for some systems on which the symptoms are prevalent, very easy to reproduce, which they might examine more closely. If you are in North America and your system is currently in service it would be great if you could send me a private message with the below information:

Dear Andy from Lenovo, 

I am just an ordinary guy with lack of PC-hardware and software knowledge. I paid for your machine more than 2 thousands euros (for example average montlhy salary in my country is 700 EUR). That means that I have been working my ass off for 3 months to buy your laptop. The laptop should be used for my work. Since the day I bought it (in February 2020)- it has been broken. It is not reliable for watching aNetflix. I can not rely on any (read my lips: A N Y) programs I use for work.

As I already said, my lack of PC knowldegde is why I bought (what was consider and advertised as the top of the tops) expensive device, with 2 years of  waranty. 

The official dealer is assuring me that they did not find any problems on it, despite 17 video clips that I sent them ( video clips of the problem).  I must say that I feel like an idiot, because when I come home- I still can not work on my device.

As I can see here and elswhere on the internet- there are numerous people with the same or similar problems. 

So, my question to all of you- premium product customer service- in Lenovo :

1. why should I learn things like Bios or Dos to boot and re-boot and search for specific updates? Shouldn't these problems be adressed to officials dealers? 

I repeat- my device is under a waranty and you are telling me- I should fix  software problems for what  you do not have a clue what is causing just assumptions!!!

2. why do you not pull back all of stupid Lenovo series with the same problems? As I could see the whole world is affected with it. 

 

Again, even though my device is under warranty, even though my local official Lenovo dealer has ca.20 videos of the problem (he looks me up in the eyes, smiles and say- there is no problem with it), even though I can not work on the device......Now I must hire a lawyer to get my money back. 

 

 

I will not furhter hack up my device- because I am not a **bleep** programmer and I do not know how to fix bios.  and btw.......it's under warranty and as you may know- when smth is under warranty only official dealers aka programmers can work on it.

I want my money back

Hi everyone,  I just purchased the Yoga 940 and am in the process of updating the system when I came across this thread.  Does the flickering issue impact both the 1080p screen version AND the 4k screen version of the laptop (or only the 1080p version)?  If it's only affecting the 1080p version I am tempted to return the version I just purchased for the 4k version.  Thanks to all in advance!

Hi CMB, I have the 4k version and I had the flickering issue. 

 

No flickering issues so far since updating to one of the later intel graphic drivers, although I haven't turned on HDR as last time I did that, the laptop froze up.

I'm in the same boat. So many issues with the C940. Totally unreliable and I hardly use it. Lenovo won't refund after 30 days and Digital River won't refund without a DOA code from Lenovo which they won't issue.

 

Will just put this down to experience, although £1400 is a lot just to write off. I bought the C940 as a replacement for the Yoga 2 Pro which I used for over 6 years without an issue and the C940 has been a nghtmare and not nearly the same quality or reliability.

 

The C940 should be recalled and owners offered a refund or replacement, but of course we know Lenovo would never do that.

 

Ah well, you live and learn.

Thanks for all the info; this is really informative.  Newbie at this, but I've a:

c940-14iil (Windows 10 Home, 20H2, installed 16 mar 21).  

display driver (Iris Plus 27.20.100.8280, 19/05/2020).  

14”UHD. 

 

The laptop was bought January 2020, and it’s been great.  Display issues started regularly with the recent Windows 10 update a few days ago (from what I’ve seen: cloned taskbar, flickering areas, little resizings, and little flashes of stuff).  I’d probably seen some of the little flashes before, but not the others.  The other issues seem to get worse if mouse hovers over areas for commands; they have (touch wood) basically disappeared after a few seconds, including the cloned taskbar.  That's the only one where there's no cursor or key response when it occurs, but once it disappears, they come back.  I basically use Chrome, Office and some Adobe programmes; Teams and Zoom.  The laptop is still usable presently but I’m wondering if I just suffer through these periodic issues until it's intolerable, hoping it doesn’t get worse, or worth trying to change the driver now, to the Intel Driver Version: 27.20.100.9316.  (Not sure if replacing driver will spark a whole new series of other issues though).

 

Anyone with thoughts?  Also how would one stop hardware acceleration on Chrome?

This has been extremely intrusive and is making using this laptop no useful in a time crunch.  Please find a solution.

Hello  Andy_Lenovo,

 

Are you responding to messages? As I said in my message to you, I have tried installing the new driver from Intel, I have tried reducing the refresh rate, but the issues still come back.

 

Can you please respond?
