Re:Lenovo Yoga C940 screen glitches, flickering, flashing

Just replying to the question about ' Have you tried Lenovo OneKey Recovery'? No, haven't needed to. I ran Lenovo Diagnostics Tool and then went to the Intel site to run their diagnostics and suggested updates: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html

In the last few weeks, since doing that, I have had just one very brief reoccurrence of the flickering/cloning/schizophrenia take-over we all describe.

@berkshireyogini  - Thank you for the feedback. I will update my previous post since I was able to solve my 'screen flickering' issue by downloading the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant.

PLEASE NOTE: My screen flickering issue has disappeared after installing Intel provided driver for my specific Graphics and Intel Processor recently released.

I have been facing the same issue, and after speaking to the support; they suggested to hold the power button for 60 secs and restart the machine. It is to clear up some electric discharge. Doing so, the issue goes away; though when I have kept it ideal and screen closed overnight and start work the next day; the issue appears again. Repeating the restart as suggested resolves the issue. I have been doing this for months now.

And after reading this forum, One of the suggestion to  disable the touch screen, seems to have worked; for past 2 days I have not faced the issue. And since I do not use the touch screen often, disabling it works for me.

WoW, i did not know this is such a common problem!!!!

Well for me this happens usually immediately when i am watching a video and pause it, once paused, screen goes black and then starts flickering, and i would need to restart. Earlier i just needed to close the laptop and open and i would act normally again!

Wasn't sure what the issue was and thought its only my problem. Anyhow now that it is becoming more and more frequent, i cant stand it anymore and need to find a viable resolution!

So can anyone help, hopefully with something that is Lenovo approved!?

Lenovo approved ..... ha ha ha ha

They haven't even acknowledged the problem despite there being several large posts about it on their own forum!

The drivers on the support site are years out of date, so you just need to go your own way.

Hello everyone,

I have the same issue. Updated the BIOS yesterday, does it patches this bug?

No. Read the posts above. Nothing to do with Bios.

Re:Lenovo Yoga C940 screen glitches, flickering, flashing

Hi guys,

I was able to find a solution for this bug. For me the following steps brought the solution.

1. Update Windows 10 to version 21H1 (Build 19043.985) - Insider Channel

2. Install original Intel graphics driver version 27.20.100.9466

After performing the two steps my system works again like a charm.

Hope that this info will help some others as well.

Best regards

Re:Lenovo Yoga C940 screen glitches, flickering, flashing

I've had the flickering problem, multiple toolbars across my screen issue for 2+ months. I was certain it had to do with a windows update. I didn't know where to begin with troubleshooting. I was planning on using my Best Buy Total Support until this morning when all of a sudden the flickering was out of control and I thought I was about to lose my tablet. I immediately shut it down and used my other PC to research. So, so happy I found this forum. I had run the Lenovo diagnostic tool which installed some updates and I rebooted. I also updated windows to 21H1. I checked my Intel drivers. I have 27.20.100.8280 (not 9466) but my tablet is working perfect again without issue. I've watched some You Tube videos, etc. to test the system. So much better. I'll check in to updating the Intel driver though.

Re:Lenovo Yoga C940 screen glitches, flickering, flashing

What worked for me - Our laptop was on Win 10 1909 when this issue started. No changes had been made other than Lenovo recommended updates and Windows security updates. I tried 3 different docks, 2 different monitors, different mouse, keyboard and changed monitor connection to HDMI. I have since updated to the latest version of Windows 10, installed the latest driver from Intel's site and installed any available Lenovo updates. This did not fix the issue, what does seem to have fixed it was installing the drivers for ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock and then for good measure I installed the optional Windows updates. I rebooted and checked Lenovo updates and "suddenly" a bios update was available. I updated the bios and the user has not had a problem since. That was 3 weeks ago. We have about a dozen of these laptops and this was the only one that has had this issue, but what I have noticed on others is it saying Thunderbolt was not being used and the software could be uninstalled. This does not make sense because these laptops are using OWC Thunderbolt 3 mini docks. So my guess is that Thunderbolt plays into this issue even when nothing is connected to thunderbolt port. The laptop I installed the software for the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock does not get those messages. I then installed it on my laptop when that message started showing up and have not gotten it since.
