Lenovo Yoga No Input/Output Device Found

All of a sudden and for no discernable reason, I am seeing the dreaded red X by my volume button.

When I go into sound settings, I see "No Output Devices Found" and "No Input Devices Found".

I have no external speakers or microphones attached, just the default ones that are built into the laptop.

I tried running the troubleshooter, but no luck.

I have also tried restarting the sound services

I also tried upgrading the drivers, but it says I have the latest

I have also tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting the laptop

And finally, I tried attaching my Bluetooth earbuds, which I see are attached, but no sound comes out of them, and I still see a red X and "No input/output devices attached"

 

Not sure what else to do. Without audio in and out, it's kind of a paperweight

What to do?

Glad to have you posting here!

 

What type of Lenovo Yoga device are you using?

 

Please share here its MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications.

It can be seen through the device's label/sticker or its original packaging and does usually have a format of 8********R as an example.

 

Also, please share here your device's current BIOS version/date.

Press the Windows + R key then type in msinfo32 to open the System Information window and get the details from there.

 

As for your concern, try to perform a power drain first to your device by pressing/holding its Power button for like 10 to 15 seconds until it turns OFF.

Once done, press the Power button again to turn it ON and check if it will now play sounds whether on its built-in speaker or when connecting headset/headphone.
