Hi, i have posted before on this subject. I purchased the Lenovo yoga 500 Laptop model 80N5 , serial number ******** but the 23/10/15 with a year’s warranty, but the warranty on this machine started 5/6/2015 .
The Laptop is hardly used, I ran some updates which worked fine, then it shut down and wouldn't power up.
I have had it looked at by 2 independant companies who have said that the power brick caused a burnt chip on the motherboard and that a power suge could have done it! I was under the impression that the Power brick has built in surge protector and woulnt have gone as far as the unit to damage the motherboard! i have been told by the company that i bougth it from it was negligence by me that has caused the unit to malfunction . They want a report saying a manufactor fault then it will get replacced.
I have seen on the Lenovo website recall for power cords and batteries, can you advise if my model is one of those and apart from that what else can i do .

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Checking on the power cord recall page, it is only those computers were sold from February 2011 through June 2012.
Note: Only the AC Power Line Cord is being recalled. The Adapter that connects to the computer is not being recalled.
Yoga 500 is not among the affected machines.
You can also check the recall page to verify if your machine is part of it to validate.
Otherwise as with other power issues, you may need to get a new systemboard for repair or have the chip replaced whichever would be cost convenient on your end.
Hope this helps answer your query.

In any recall document the affected systems will be listed, if your system is listed then you need to follow the advice offered in that document. If your system is not listed then it is not affected.
