Lenovo yoga 510 won’t turn on

2018-04-29, 10:29 AM

When I try to turn on my Lenovo yoga 510-14AST a white light appears beside the power button but disappears after 5 seconds. The charging light appears when I plug the charger in but nothing happens on the screen. Please help ASAP as I need to study for my university exams

Hello Strategy99

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

If that does not help, then try to use the NOVO button, and see if that is able to get you into the recovery menu for you.

If it just refuses to boot up, then you it would be best to get in touch with your local Lenovo support line for a repair.

Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Hi, I've got the same problem with the Lenovo yoga 510 of one of my coworkers. Ended up opening the notebook, just to realize, that the battery is soldered directly onto the mainboard... Who on earth at the Lenovo design-team hat the brilliant idea to basically make a battery in a notebook irreplacable?! I am almost certain, that this is some sort of power-problem, as not even the fan starts spinning when you attempt to power on the device, and usually, as even stated by you Krakken, discharging the device entirely often resolves those problems. But since a one-of-a-kind genius at Lenovo decided, it was a good idea to make this solution impossible for any normal IT-specialist, I can't verify it and now took out the hard-drive (which luckily was NOT soldered to the mainboard...) and backed up the data. If you read this and have any way of reaching out to people responsible for this, PLEASE let them now, that I will highly recommend my coworker NOT to buy a Lenovo for his new notebook because of this. This frustrates me so much, that I created an account on this site only to write this comment. If you read this and are responsible for notebook-design: Please do not make vulnerable parts irreplacable by soldering them directly onto the mainboard.

My laptop had the same issue. It wont turn on with the novo button and it had screen flickering problems before it stopped working entirely. I don't want to buy a new battery but it seems like I don't have a choice. I have to everything now on a borrowed computer. Plz get back to me asap.
