Hi Gustav01 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Recommended solution that you can try here on this discussion:

Lenovo has released a BIOS update with a new feature called Quiet Mode to provide a quieter fan experience for customers with Yoga 910-13IKB and 13IKB Glass laptops. Please note that this is a two-step process. After updating to the BIOS v.35, it will be necessary to then go into the BIOS and enable Quiet Mode.

Quiet Mode achieves a lower overall fan volume by making minimal changes to CPU performance and system temperature.

Version 2JCN35WW

Modify thermal and DPTF setting, add Quiet Mode.

  • Enter BIOS setup, which can be done by holding down “FN+F2” keys during system start up or pressing the Nova button when the device is shut down.
  • Go to page “Configuration” and change system performance mode to “Quiet Mode”.
  • Select “Exit saving changes” or in page “Exit” or F10. System will reboot.

BIOS v.35 can be downloaded here:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS119202

For customers experiencing a continuously running fan on Yoga 910-13IKB and 13IKB Glass systems, please upgrade to the latest WLAN driver, v. 12.0.0.278. It can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS119197. If this does not change the fan behavior, try uninstalling the Qualcomm Atheros WLAN Installer, then reinstalling the driver.

The Qualcomm Atheros WLAN Installer can be found in Settings -> Apps -> Qualcomm Atheros WLAN Installer. Select it and then right-click to open a menu. Select Remove It. Restart the system.

Update us how it goes for you.

Regards

Re: Lenovo yoga 910 become very very hot specially upper keyboard side next to the screen

I have made the change from Balanced to Silent Mode in the BIOS. The upgrade I already made a week ago.

However, the machine is quieter now, but the temperature is extremly high, specially the panel between the keyboard and the monitor.

Are there any settings I may change to make the machine cooler?

Hi Gustav01 ,

With an update BIOS and change quiet mode setting , ensure that vents are not obstructed and proper cooling is observed.

If this temperature is something which is noticeably warm to touch like if you stay longer on the same spot as you feel may cause discomfort , I suggest you to call in technical support for service.  Power management on this system should be maintained automatically  with updated Lenovo settings and Lenovo companion .

Regards

The BIOS I had already installed. However, I selected the quiet mode in the BIOS, but the temperature ist still extremly high. I really burne my fingers if I put them a minute on the plate in front of the screen.

May another reason be applicable for this issue, because I am scared, that I burn my new laptop, which would be a petty.

Thanks for your help.

Gustav

Hi Gustav01 ,

If it would be that warm as enough to cause burn just with contact on the exterior , we expect that it would more internally. Contact technical support for immediate service .

I have sent the machine last Friday to the technical support. Hopefully they will find a solution to solve this problem.

I will keep you posted.

Cheers Gustav

I send the machine to Lenovo

The message was, that they change a piece of cooling metal.

However, there is no change.

I am very dissapointed. In the past I have been so satiesfied with lenovo products.

But I suppose the next laptop would be a different one.

Today I have upgrade the BIOS, but still no change and it become sooo hot, I cannot touch the surface for more than 20 seconds.

Cheers Gustav

Hi Gustav01,

Greetings.

Did you have the machine back with you now?

Aside from updating the BIOS as recommended BIOS v.35, Version 2JCN35WWModify thermal and DPTF setting, add Quiet Mode as described from the discussion.

"please upgrade to the latest WLAN driver, v.

In most overheating cases found that the WLAN card driver is the ones that contribute the heat production.

Regards
