Lenovo yoga some keys not working

Hello - We have owned this Lenovo Yoga (product specs below) for about 3 years with no issues. suddenly, a handful of keys stopped working from the keyboard.  I can type just fine using an external keyboard, or by using the screen keyboard. The letters that don't work: g, i, o and p.

I updated the bios and all other drivers from the Lenovo site, hoping it was just a driver issue, but it seems pretty obvious that it's a hardware issue.  I deleted the kayboard from device manager and re-installed, as well.  I have swapped out Lenovo keyboards before, but this one looks different.  Using an external keyboard is not a long term possibility for this user.

Any thoughts?  Thank you all!

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

Hi stevepeck ,

Greetings.

Have the same problems of the same keys even on BIOS or loading up a different boot image like rescue live image, just confirms hardware issue as external and onscreen works ok.

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

I have the same         problem started today.   Also the space bar does  msc  functions, ie., changes backlight, page up or down, instead of putting in a space.    Any ideas?   Thanks.

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

These are characters Lenovo uses for their version of NUM LOCK. Just disable Num Lock and the keyboard returns to normal. This is true even when usiing an external keyboard that does have a key pad.

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

The issues you guys are discussing might be resolved by disabling Windows 10 fast startup.  The issue with my Yoga 900 caused all of my function keys to stop working, including the backlight on the keyboard.

If your running Windows 10, check out the following link and try disabling fast startup:

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

A handful of keys have issue, these arent working: Esc, Single quote, Up Arrow, g, h, left Alt etc.

Model: Lenovo Yoga 2 13 Laptop, Serial # CB********, OS: Windows 10

No issues until 2 weeks ago, bought this in Apr, 2014.

This model doesn't allow to open and replace keypad. Any suggestions towards resolution are highly appreciated!

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

Did you find any resolution on this. I ave a Yoga 260 and the very same keys stopped workin 2 weeks ago.  Too much of a coincidence to be a keyboard issue. Tried all the usual suggestions. Everyting is up to date, but still avin a ell of a time.

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

You need to separate this problem, it can be just a dirty keyboard key, or the keyboard can not work properly.

Try to remove a poorly-efficient rubber cap and make sure the keyboard diaphragm functions. If not, you will need to change the keyboard because the circuit under the keyboard belt is broken. If only one key does not work, you will need to change the keyboard.

Re: Lenovo yoga some keys not working

I wonder if my Lenovo Yoga 2 13 model allows a keyboard/keypad replacement !! I couldn't unscrew as I found it hard to break the bridge/4 screws being embedded into the bottom supposedly removable panel !
