I want to extend the drive from a 256GB drive to a 500GB SSD. To my surprise I saw that the laptop is designed to only take 5mm drives by default, so my Sandisk SSD could not fit. As per another post on this forum I tried to remove the foam around the drive bay to make some more space but it still wasn't enough. I can screw the cover back on with some effort but the bump from a 7mm drive is too much - The laptop basically wobbles if you put it on a table. Plus, I don't feel particularly safe knowing my SSD is being crushed by its surroundings.
To me it looks like there's nothing I can do to place a 7mm high drive. But I was also unable to find any decent solution for a 5mm drive. I could only find some old models all of which were unavailable or had a ridiculous cost.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Hi there, Exci!
Welcome to the Lenovo forum discussion.
As per the hardware maintenance manual https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/yoga_700-14isk_hmm_201509.pdf?CID=ww:lenovosocial:2..., the Lenovo Yoga 700-14ISK is tested to run up to 256GB SSD and you can check the tested SSD on page 63 look for number 5 of the hardware maintenance manual.
