There is a loud griding noise whenever my wife's brand new Yoga 13 is titled in any direction. It seems like a simple gyroscopic effect causing the fan to bang in to case. It also seems like something that shouldn't be happening. Is this a problem that other people have experienced or is there something wrong with this machine?

please see this blog about Yoga 13 fan hitting the metal housing...
maybe best to consult Lenovo Tech Support about a possible fan replacement...

Thanks. I contacted technical support. Since the system is so new they suggested replacement as the best option.
An issue with a computer on its first day of use did not inspire confidence.

My computer is 2 yrs old and about 2 months ago I started having this same issue (driving me craaazy) and spent 20 mns on the phone w/ tech support yesterday. They kept telling me that since the computer is out of warranty I'll have to pay to have it fixed. I kept telling them that since it's clearly a design flaw (similar problem w/ other computers -- and not just Yoga 13s but other models as well!) then they should cover the repairs, do a recall, etc. They did not budge.
THEY DID SAY: that the only way they'll consider this a "known issue" and figure out a replacement policy is enough people report the same issue. SO IF YOUR YOGA 13 ALSO HAS THIS &%&#^* FAN PROBLEM, PLEASE CLICK ON THE "I HAVE THIS QUESTION TOO" BUTTON" ABOVE.
Aside from the grinding fan noise (and the onscreen keyboard which used to randomly pop up all the time, hasn't been doing that lately) this has been a great computer. It sucks that the only option is to pay for repairs or get a new one.
Waiting for the tech company whose tag line is "Our stuff doesn't break." : /
