Hi Paultyk,

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

This message indicates that either the bootable Windows image is not working/ corrupt or the hard drive itself is bad.

Try checking the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart) if the hard drive storage is still being detected so reseating it to its place can help ensure that it is not loose on its connection.

Actually I have already removed and installed SSD. With no luck. But will try to check BIOS. That was second time since it was repaired under warranty in 2014 with same issue. Will keep you posted.

OEM parts can be checked here on Lenovo Encompass for availability and pricing.

You may also check other SSD compatible to your model from here on the parts lookup page.

 

part# 45N8430 Lenovo SSD mSATA FRU SSD 256GB Samsung mSATA PM841-256

 

Another option to check for pricing on other resellers online using the manufacturer descriptors.

As an example, Samsung mSATA PM841-256 would show similar products like here or you can also check it with crucial.

 

Just review return options when getting parts from other resellers just in case.

If I need to replace SSD, where will I find system setup software with windows that was already on my laptop?

Hi Paultyk,

 

You can order a recovery media from technical support or to call in directly Software department 855 271 3878 if you failed to create one previously. This goes mostly for machines that came with Windows 7 (no more legit download location from Microsoft).

 

For Windows 8 and Windows 10 preloaded machine so that you don't need to buy the installer for Windows, you can download the ISO image here (W10) and here (W8). Drivers are available here from the support site for free.

Just tested my bios. It recognized my SSD when inserted. But still same message. No bootable device. Is it bad SSD?

I tried recovery through Novo button but same message coming up- no bootable device. But bios is showing SSD installed.
