Multiple instances of HD Audio Background Process

2020-02-29, 16:26 PM

Hi guys,

I hope someone can help me out. I have a lenovo yoga 920 and recently I noticed three instances named "HD audio Background Process" in my startup apps and taskmanager. Having trust issues, i looked it up on the forum and found this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Realtek-HD-Audio-Background-Process-Multiple-Instances-On/td-p/3367682.

I followed Shasi Lenovo's recommendation using the command:

cd c:\
dir /s hd audiobackground process

this was returned:

Directory of c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\VB\Snippets\1033\os

02/21/2018  02:34 PM    <DIR>          Process

              0 File(s)              0 bytes

In the snippets\1033\os map i find some strange files like:

  • FindtheCurrentUsersName.snippet
  • PerformActionwhenSystemPowerModeChanges.snippet
  • RespondtoTimerEvent.snippet
  • PeekatMessages.snippet
  • StartanApplication.snippet
  • StopanApplication.snippet
  • PauseaWindowsService.snippet
  • CreateaRegistryKeyandSe**bleep**Values.snippet
  • WriteRegistryValues.snippet

These files combined with Shasi's mention of a possible trojan horse got me a bit worried. I ran two different virusscanners and both came up with nothing.

I am far from a computer expert. This was my first time using cmd. I also don't know what Microsoft Visual Studio is used for. So i hope you guys get the picture.

Really appreciate any help i can get!

Regards

Follow what he/she says, users with the suffix "_Lenovo" in their usernames are Lenovo employees, ore former Lenovo employees in this case.
