New Yoga 730-15, Lenovo partition much more than needed

2018-09-23, 21:53 PM

I just received a new Yoga 730-15 with a 256GB SSD. When I looked at disk usage, there is a 25GB Lenovo partition that only uses about 2GB. Why has that been set so large? Can I reduce its size and give more to the C: partition?

That is usually the recovery partition that is used to restore your system to its factory condition should you need to do so (OS and preinstalled software), so my advice would be to leave it alone until such time as you simply cannot live without that extra 2GB, and by then you may want to just increase the size of the SSD.

Cheers,

The only thing on there are drivers.

Hi Johnpd,

Greetings from Lenovo.

As you are trying to expand the partition, 25GB is allocated to the OS and drivers. Suggest not to reduce.

I was wondering why such a large section of the hard drive was allocated to this when all it contains is less than 2GB of drivers. I would like to allocate some of this unused space to the C: partition as I don't see anything else that would be added to it or would additional stuff be added?
