PCIe Gen 4 Support on 11th Gen Intel Laptops?

2021-03-31, 21:10 PM

Hi, I was considering upgrading the storage on the Lenovo Yoga 9i, but can't find any documentation if it supports PCIe Gen 4 speeds.

Does anyone know if this supports PCIe Gen 4 in the internal M.2 slot? I know the i7-1185g7 supports it, but chipset is only Gen 3.

Thanks!

Thank you for following up. I see I must have mistyped the MTM, which came in as the Yoga 7 series rather than the 9. The actual MTM is: 82BG000CUS. Sorry for the confusion.

For your reference, here is the Type 82BG system platform spec document: https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Yoga/Yoga_9_14ITL5/Yoga_9_14ITL5_Spec.pdf

Welcome to the Community Forums @ Starz!

Thanks for posting here!

Can you please share here first your device's MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications?

It does have a format of Z********S (example) and can be usually seen in the packaging or through the laptop's label/sticker.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Thanks,

Thanks for providing your device's details @ Starz!

Upon checking through the Yoga 7 laptop's specifications, it shows in there that PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x4, Gen 3 in 4 lanes.

With this, we cannot guarantee the functionality if a higher gen would still be in support if placed on the device.

However, you can upgrade the storage up to 1TB M.2 2280 SSD or 512GB M.2 2242 SSD.

You may check its complete specifications through this link.

Thanks,
