I currently have a Lenovo Yoga 910 (no 4k version) and I've been having problems connecting to an external monitor for some time now. The monitor works well with other devices so I'm positive it's a problem with the laptop/adapters. My external monitor is the following: Acer LCD. It does not have an HDMI port, but it has a DVI port. As far as I know, all of my drivers are up to date. I have two methods for connecting:
1. CableCreation USB-C male to HDMI female + BlueRigger HDMI male to DVI male
2. Choetech USB-C male to DVI male
I used option (1) for a while with success, until suddenly it only provided low resolutions for the monitor. Now, when I try option (1), it won't even extend the display. I'll select "Extend these displays" and apply, only for it to go back to "Show only on 1". So this has somehow gone from working perfectly to not at all. I thought the CableCreation adapter might be faulty, but then:
I recieved the cord for option (2) today, and the outcome is exactly the same. "Extend these displays" automatically reverts back to "Show only on 1".
Thanks for any and all help!

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.
Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Also, try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.
(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

So I downloaded the drivers, and did the static discharge, and neither worked. Any other ideas? I should also mention that I did restart the unit.
