Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2014-11-13, 9:56 AM

Okay, I've fought with this forever.  Went through heaps of different drivers and setting combos and finally found one that seems to work.  I even went through the trouble of registering on this site, I was going to start a new thread but couldn't figure out how to do that?!?!?!

So here goes.  Give this a try!

1. Find and install the 17.12.0.4 drivers for the useless 7260 wifi card.  I grabbed them from the lenovo site.

2. Install them, go to driver properties and check the following:

3. Advanced Tag - > Bluetooth(R) AMP = Disabled (I don't use it, you might not have to do this)

4. U-APSD support: Disabled (this is the one that seemed to do it for me).

5. Power Managment -> Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power = CHECKED (yes, people were saying to uncheck it, but I didnt get this to work until I did both the U-APSD and this)

6. Uninstall Intel Smart Connect

7. Update to latest BIOS (downloaded whatever version was available November 2014)

I am finally able to wake up my laptop and get back on wifi without rebooting or disable/enable my wifi card.

This was done on Windows 8.1.

I hope this helps someone out.  I have almost thrown this otherwise decent machine through the wall sooooooo many times over this!

You essentially did similar thing which user jgunderson described in his 11-04-2013 post, disabling Bluetooth(R) AMP. I tried to do that and it did not work for me.  What is clearly the problem is the Bluetooth. I tried all what you described, but nothing helped until I disabled 3 Bluetooth services (as described in my post from 11-11-2014).

This solution was proposed to me by the Lenovo service (in Cyprus). I need to give them some credit for the solution, they were vaguely aware of the problem with conflicting wifi and BT radio components on the card. We've worked together over the phone to figure out what exactely to turn off to prevent the conflict. . I can certify that after that fix, the wi-fi now works just fine for several days.

Of course, the fact that my Yoga does not have Bluetooth now is a totally different story. And that I still have not solved problem with the trackpad going rogue several times a day.

It's been so painful! It peaked when my card totally disappeared from device manager and I couldn't even do the disable trick.

I then got stuck in recovery mode. Which turns out is a nightmare if you are bitlockered!

Is WiFi in 2014 too much to ask? :)

Oh, and I just re-enabled bluetooth and it still seems to work after a sleep.  You can try my instructions if you need bluetooth!  Still not sure about speed, I need to do some testing of that still.

@Amy Tupper  /  Lenovo.

I was utterly shocked to see you consider the problem with the wifi defect a closed case - read post no. 1 on this thread - it says "solved - go to solution" and you even quote some of my posts!

What a total and utter insult from Lenovo.

Please be advised the problem is very far from solved - this is by far the worst computer I have ever owned in my life and I owe this primarily to the totally defect wireless that constantly keeps dropping out and the zero interest from the manufacturer to do anything about it. I did manage to get my wireless working sort of ok now only to find I no longer have bluetooth. What a total piece of junk.

I can assure you that I am so insulted how Lenovo treats their customers this will most certainly be my last purchase from Lenovo.

WAKE UP LENOVO and start treating your customers with respect - how about offering to repair/replace the defect hardware?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

After all the WLAn problems I replaced my Yoga 2 13 by a Y2Pro.

The Pro accepted the the 7260AC card (PN 20200385 FRU 04W3806) without any problems and speeds are now up to normal.

More important: the less congested 5 GHz seems much more stable for Wifi and Bluetooth does not interfere anymore.

I'm using the 17.0.1.5 drivers as those seem to be the most reliable for the AC (while 17.0.2.5 worked best for my 7260N ?).

Lenovo released the Kone 17.0.3 drivers on 10/29/2014

Any positive experiences with this version or good reasons to upgrade?

SOLUTION: Replace the defect Intel 7260N that ships with the Y2P with a 7260AC Wifi card (Model 7260.NGWWB).

I have been an active member of this forum for some time and have tried every conceivable means of getting the original card working and finally decided to give up waiting for Lenovo to offer a solution... so I fixed this problem at my expense (if Lenovo is reading this post you should be disgraced at the number of customers forced to repair your products at their cost).

Anyway, my network (including bluetooth) is now working as it should have been from the start.

I purchased my 7260AC card from Amazon UK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DMNSVQM/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1) and you can find instructions here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqxPdv21_Mk). I have downloaded the latest drivers from Intel (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23449&lang=eng&wapkw=intel+dual+band+wireless-ac+7260+for+desktop&_ga=1.243520069.177114414.1415748670 ) - don't forget to download these before replacing the Wifi card and also completely uninstall the old drivers before replacing the Wifi (from device manager).

(This mail is just a summary of stuff already posted to help newcomers)

Just replaced the Yoga 2 13 by the Pro I'm happy to say the BIOS white list is more comprehensive.

All the 7260AC cards I had been testing in the 2 13 and were not white listed are accepted by the Yoga 2 Pro..

The Amazon one stated above,

but also the Lenovo FRU 04W3806 (P/N 20200385)

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2014-11-30, 1:03 AM

hello, all, thanks for your comments. i think i found sth not mentioned above that actually works so hope this is helpful.

i bought yoga laptop a week ago, struggled with the wifi for a while trying to fix it, then argued with my net provider (the router's theirs too) for another 2-3 days until they sent a pro to check the problem and finally tell me what's the deal with the N7260 card. To sum up it has been a painful experince.

So after reading forums for a couple of hours, including folowing advices from above (updating drivers, turning off bluetooth and disabling turning adapter's power off on low battery - all those didnt work for me) i started considering changing to intel 7260AC wifi card and that's how i ran upon an amazon comment that actially worked - to change from 3.802.11b/g to 2. 802.11g in control panel/ device manager/ network adapters /properties/ advanced/ wireless mode.

i am now happily browsing at full speed (>70mbs download), hopefully for good, so hope this might help others too.

New Lenovo released drivers for the Intel 7260 cards: 17.0.5.8

As 'normal' this version cannot be found at the Y2Pro support pages,

so just go to the Yoga3 page ....
