The new version 17.0.5.8 is stable and transfers at higher speeds on my N only router,

BUT again this driver version looses the AC functionality ???

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

I've just registered to see if a solution exists for the wifi problem and there seems to be a new suggestion that looks promising. I've had enough of the limited wifi and having to disconnect and reconnect all the time.

The fix that looks promising is switching out the wifi card to the 7260AC, Amazon are out, if anyone has a link to an in-stock item I'd be gratefull.

Is this currently the best option as far as a solution to the problem?

Another solution offered was to change from 3.802.11b/g to 2. 802.11g

Would it be a good idea to try the second one first, since it's free, and see how that works?

Any advice would be great, thanks for your time.

Switching to G (max 54 Mbps) works well on some routers, not on all.

As you still will be using N(max 300 Mbps) and that implementation seems to be buggy.

Installing the AC version brings much higher speeds: I measured up till 800 Mbps...

And dual band (5 GHZ) can give stability in crowded 2.4GHz areas.

If I buy the 7260AC then I can keep the settings, ignore solution 2, and get better perfomance and fix the issue?

Or am I reading that wrong?

Of course I can't give you any garantuees....

But after I switched from 7260N (17.0.1.5) to 7260AC (17.0.3.3, not 17.0.5.8) I have not had any problems with my WLAN. On both 2.4 and 5 GHz.

And a much higher performance!

The Yoga 2 13 has a white list that is very picky: it only accepts the 7260AC 20200617...

My Y2P did accept several different 7260AC cards, all of them with the FCC IC ending on NG, not NGU.

The Amazon one, an 'old' Lenovo 20200385 and another (borrowed from an HP laptop).

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Don't know if anyone has had this happen as well, but in addition to the drops and slow speeds, now my wifi card Intel N7260 that came with this machine built in November 2014 has an error that makes it unusable everytime i come out of sleep.  It says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"  I try troubleshooting and it says it is experiencing driver or hardware related problems.  I have to go in and disable and enable it to get it working, though still with the slowness.  Also, I tried again and again to update drivers by the various methods described here, but it tells me I am up to date, although the driver is from 7/21/2014, it is version 17.1.0.19.  Thoughts?
