Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2015-04-15, 22:08 PM

Like most i am having issues with my networking. I do not think it is specifically the wifi card though because i get the same issue using a USB ethernet adaptor and also an external USB wifi (TPLINK).

The symptom is that after an hour or so I start having networking issues. They are very strange though:

1. I can ping and connect to local servers on my network fine and can ping my router fine.

2. If i ping servers on the internet yahoo, google they time out ( I can ping fine from another device on my network, so not router).

3. It "seems" like it is failing to connect to servers more than a few hops away. I have no freakin idea what could cause that but think it must be software related. One of the posts said they reinstalled windows and the problems went away.

4. If i disable and re-enable the network device (wifi, usb etc) it works perfectly right away again for awhile.

5. ipconfig /renew did nothing

I am purchasing that card on Amazon anyways, but think i may need to just go with a fresh install of windows 8.1 when it doesn't fix the problem.

I have uninstalled many of the Lenova "gifts" and tried every setting mentioned in this thread.

Does ANYONE have any idea what Lenova did to windows 8.1 to cause this? a specific driver? Maybe a stealth piece of software (like Lojak?).

PROBLEM SOLVED

2015-04-20, 20:43 PM

As per prior post, i wasn't having connection drops just that the connection wouldn't connect to most IP's on the internet every hour or so. Local IPs worked fine, DNS worked fine.

It wasn't a wifi card issue either, because the same thing happened when using USB external WIFI or USB Ethernet.

I removed every piece of Lenovo software it came with, every driver i could imagine was updated... Still no go.

I also looked like an idiot at the office space i rented, because for months i complained about poor internet issues when it was my own laptop all along.

Anyways.... WIPE your hardrive and install windows 8.1 fresh. Delete every Lenovo hidden partition so it can't auto install any tracking software or driver. I didn't install a single extra driver, just let windows update take care of it.

Works PERFECTLY now. I do have that upgraded wifi card i bought on amazon last week, i may install it so i can get faster speeds.

Does replacing the internal WiFi card have any advantages over using a dual band ac USB adapter?

You don't have to have the extra piece hardware using up a port if you upgrade the internal. I get better reception though with the external USB WIFI because of the big antenna it has.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Hey, i recently bought a Yoga 2 Pro. I tried to replace the wifi adapter with this one:

http://www.amazon.de/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260/dp/B00DMNSVQM

I got the "Unauthorized Wireless network card is plugged in." message...

Now I have searched the internet for days and could not get an answer which card is really on the whitelist?

Or is the newest BIOS update blocking every adapter?

Can you help me?

Did they send you the same exact one in the picture with the FCC registered ID? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GUNZUG0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have this BIOS installed: BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 76CN41WW, 10/21/2014
And had no problems

My BIOS Version is 76CN43WW

Did your version already fix the issue with yellow pixels?

Here is a photo of the AC adapter I bought:

It has another layout but the FCC ID is the same

Never had pixel issues, just internet connectivity problems. Try rolling back, worst case you put it back again.

With "rolling back" you mean "downgrade of the BIOS"?
