Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Hi,

We bought three Yoga 2's for the office and all have intermittent wifi problems. I have disasembled one to reveal the following card. I was surprised to find an AC card as I thought all the wifi problems were with the non-AC cards.

I'm confused why we have so many wifi problems with these laptops (other laptop makes/models) are fine. The drivers are the latest from Intel.

Is it possible to swap this out with another card, just to see if it fixes the issues? Are Broadcom cards compatible? How can I find a compatibility list?

Lastly, Although we have Yoga 2 laptops, the disassembly guides I found on the internet appear to show different construction such as having two fans (ours has a single fan). Could the UK Yoga 2 be different to the US model?

Advice greatly appreciated

>From what I (and others) were able to determine is the wifi issue is OS related (not driver) and something that Lenovo is adding to the windows platform. The only way I was able to fix my issues (and it wasn't just wifi, but any internet connection over USB ether also) was to wipe and install windows fresh with the default drivers it came with. I spend a very long time uninstalling and removing everything not windows on the Lenovo install and it didn't help, only the wipe did. I had already bought the new intel wifi card so added that after. NOTE the latest BIOS isn't recognizing some of the cards people have purchased. I am not running the very latest.

I exchanged the wifi card of my Lenovo Yoga 2 pro a few days ago ... and it is still working perfect :)

I bought this card : http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00GUNZUG0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

Exchanging it was very easy and it took only one reboot to get the new Bluetooth drivers.

To be honest: I can't understand why Lenovo did not add this card to the laptops. Are the other ones really that cheaper? Lonovo should focus more on customer satisfaction!

I've installed the AC card in my Y2P, and it connects well to the Nighthawk router I have--but I'm not getting anywhere near the speeds I expected. I have 95% signal, and my access point connection speed is usually somewhere between 65 and 234 Mbps. Whenever I first connect, it'll jump up to 700-800+, but then settles back down.

Anybody have any recommendation on how to get max speeds? This is the only device on the AC network of the router. Right now, I am using the intel proset software drivers.

Have you had a look on the settings of your router?

Check the wireless mode and the Channel Bandwidth. For the 5Ghz network I'm using a Channel Bandwidth of 80MHz.

Cheers,
