Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

How can you possibly say Yoga Pro does not support 802.11ac??? I upgraded it myself and it works fine.

Before my upgrade, my 80211.n was working fine with no drops. You say your Vaio, HT, Google TV, and Xbox One work fine. But do they all have the same Intel 80211n card, with the same drivers, same OS, same wifi configurations, etc.??

We should not assume and we must compare every configuration before making any conclusions.

Hello,

I just received my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and it has been absolutely horrible trying to stay connected via wi-fi.

It drops constantly.

I am using the latest version of the driver 16.5.3.6

Is there any REAL solution?

I'm getting ready to pack it up and send it back....just awful.

Joy

Sorry, but Lenovo says it doesn't: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/yoga/yoga-2-pro/#techspecs

If you think it does I see no reason for discussion.

@ leroy2p

I think medeiom meant that he purchased the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 from a 3rd party seller. He then opened up his laptop and replaced the Intel Wireless-N 7260 card with the AC card that he purchased. Antennas don't care what frequency they send or receive.

Interesting experience yesterday.  I've had reasonably good Wi-Fi performance, until yesterday.  I was in a meeting room with 3 APs and the first one had lots of drops similar to the experiences some have indicated on this board.  The others were flawless.  I couldn't see the manufactirers of the APs except for one sitting in the conference room.  That one was an old 802.11g Linksys model, and it was a flawless conection.  I do think there are certain APs that are problematic for the Wi-Fi chipset in the Intel 7260 card.  This isn't a new issue for Wi-Fi, but the 7260s seem particularly sensitive.

My bad... Never tought a hardware upgrade would be discussed here. I had never wanted to mean it isn't compatible with a hardware upgrade. My only point was: a 802.11n wireless card should work out of box without issues.

Well, I hate to say it, but the disconnects are starting to get to me... I've done every conceivable thing to make the WiFi more reliable, from getting the AC card, to trying both the 16.6.0 and 16.5.3 drivers, to disabling IPv6, changing HT mode, disabling 2.4GHz, changing channel width, etc., etc... Nothing helps - I keep getting disconnects every few hours if just surfing the net, and more often if stressing it - copying files over network, playing on-line game, etc.

Those of you that have rock solid WiFi, can you list which routers do you have? I have Time Capsule last gen...

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

People: This is not a Yoga 2 issue, this is strictly a router and OS configuration problem.

Think about it. Yoga works fine on any B or G router but not an N router. There are some things to try out:

1. On Yoga disable the following: Bluetooth, IPv6, uncheck under wifi setting 'turn off this device to save power'

2. On Routers edit the following:  wifi encryption set to AES&TKIP, set to channel 11, change MTU from auto to 1500, set to connect to all 802.11 b/g/n devices.

In my opinion, this must be related to an Intel and Win8.1 driver conflict. Off topic here, my SurfaceRT was constantly dropping a connection. It too has an N wifi card, I made the changes as mentioned above, and so far so good.

Hope this helps.
