People: This is not a Yoga 2 issue, this is strictly a router and OS configuration problem.

Think about it. Yoga works fine on any B or G router but not an N router. There are some things to try out:

1. On Yoga disable the following: Bluetooth, IPv6, uncheck under wifi setting 'turn off this device to save power'

2. On Routers edit the following:  wifi encryption set to AES&TKIP, set to channel 11, change MTU from auto to 1500, set to connect to all 802.11 b/g/n devices.

In my opinion, this must be related to an Intel and Win8.1 driver conflict. Off topic here, my SurfaceRT was constantly dropping a connection. It too has an N wifi card, I made the changes as mentioned above, and so far so good.

Hope this helps.

Y2P is the only device I've ever owned that has had a consistent issue with WiFi. I have no doubt that it is some sort of combination of Win 8.1, Y2P and Intel 7260, but in no way does it change the fact that it is extremely frustrating at times. I've had at one point or another Surface RT, Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 running on N on my Time Capsule, with never a single issue. Not to mention countless Macs, Dells, and whater else came through my house. I have now spent more time trying to troubleshoot this than it's worth. Some of the recommendatons are also not practical, as disabling Bluetooth is not an option for me - I use it, disabling IPv6 kills HomeGroup, and setting 2.4GHz channel to 11 is not practical as it is very congested (not that I use 2.4GHz anyway).

My last option is to try a different router, and if that works just set up another 5GHz network and be done with it. However if it doesn't work, I don't know what to do.

I totally agree with cbautis2 - there is nothing wrong with wifi and Y2P itself. Only minor software adjustments are needed and then it works perfect.

I switched to Y2P from Sony VAIO Pro 13 because I struggled with wifi in that ultrabook for over a month! All software fixes were good only up to a point but still the poor wifi reception remained. Sony even sent me a wifi dongle, as they acknowledged the hardware problem with SVP13. Now, that is an example of laptop with real wifi faults and I finally returned it.

Y2P worked for me straight out the box, but I did all the small driver adjustments anyway. This machine works very good, stable and fast in all places where Sony VAIO failed to connect. I'm using Intel 16.6.0.8 wifi driver BTW.

That is quite an ignorant statement. Just because it works perfect FOR YOU doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong with it. Other than to insult people that are having serious problems with WiFi on Y2P, what was the purpose of your post??

It means that your problems with wifi in Y2P are unique, not universal. There is hope for you, read this: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-034535.htm

And please accept my deepest and most sincere apologies as I never wanted to insult you or any other member of this community. Maybe one day you will nail your problem as it seems to be very specific and not related to the Y2P in general.

Sorry, but I beg to differ. The Yoga 2 Pro definately has a problem.

We have multiple computers/devices: Lenovo W530, Lenovo Ideapad U160 (my first netbook), Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11s, Kindle reader, Kindle Fire and an Apple iPad 4 - none of these other devices have an issue.

I sincerely doubt that every hotel I stay in and every business I visit is going to change their router for me...the problem is in the device... I usually travel with my W530 (work machine) and an iPad - I was hoping to dump the ipad and use the Yoga 2 Pro, but, I need it to be reliable and it is not.

What I tried to say was this. There are Y2P owners without wifi problems and there are those, who have problems. It means that the problems are not universal for the whole Y2P line.

I do not question that your problems really exist. I only say that they are solvable if software is their source. Or, you may return your Y2P if there is something wrong with your hardware (like faulty wifi card or whatever).

I experienced wifi problems with the other ultrabook, applied all possible "solutions" and found it impossible to repair. Then I found Sony Community and their discussion, where there was no one (NO ONE) who got wifi to work properly on this machine under certain measured and repeatable conditions. So I returned it.

Then I got Y2P and it works perfect in the same conditions. My wifi criteria did not change during that time.

wifi should be top 3 important issues any portable device deals with .. they had problems with the fisrt yoga and didnt care enough to make a fix on the second...???. .

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

i have testing mine Yoga 2 Pro for the last 2 days on various routers i have around my house. The frequent disconnections for the wifi only occurs in some model routers, and there are some routers that maintain the connection quite well without any sign of dropping off.

1. updated the drivers as per Knowledgebase, but i am still getting dropped connections on some routers, so i looked into the wireless settings to see whether i can resolve the issue. After repeated trials and errors, i find that there are two settings that you can change to reduce the frequency (or eliminate the drop out).

a) in the wireless card setting under power management, make sure you switch off power saving features.

b) For your 802.11n channel width under 2.4 ghz, set it to AUTO rather than 20 mhz.
