I cannot believe that Lenovo is still selling laptops with borderline-defective wifi capability.

U310 owners have had it so bad  that I would have thought the problem would have been addressed.

I feel bad for anyone who buys a non-Thinkpad Lenovo product in the future.  I know I won't be doing so ever again.

This problem also manifested itself in the ThinkPad that was shipped with this particular card.

I'm not working for Lenovo or anything, but I don't think it's completely Lenovo's fault for the flaky WiFi. Like what lead_org found out, those laptops (doesn't matter what brand or model it is) with Intel 7260 have some sort of speed drops or just dropping internet connectivity. I remeber one user here who posted in this thread that he/she gets speed drops to 11 Mbps and then it stays there and never goes back to normal until you reset the adapter. Here's one thread at Intel where another laptop with different brand gets the same speed drop issue: https://communities.intel.com/message/217226#217226

I do experience those speed issues with the 7260 on my Y470, but each driver update plus turning off power saving (didn't change any roaming settings though) reduces the occurence of that by once per 2 - 3 weeks. It used to be really bad though but each driver updates makes it much better. Just hope Intel releases a driver fix as early as possible. One more thing though is that Intel 7260 has higher latency and produces a lot more ping spikes than other WiFi cards like Broadcom and Ralink. Well, a fix for that lag spike is disabling HT mode, but you lose a lot of speed for that stability.

Lenovo Y470: i7-2670QM | 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM | Nvidia GeForce GT 550M | 500 GB 7200 RPM Seagate HDD | ASUS PCE-AC56 802.11ac Network Adapter | Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Upgrading to the ac card is relatively easy and you could do it yourself. However, this will not fix your Wi-Fi issues as I've already upgraded and still have issues. As mentioned in an earlier post.

The problem is with the driver and the wireless card itself.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2013-12-26, 15:01 PM

I was finally able to get a new Yoga 2 Pro to work on my home WiFi.  I had several other laptop's working fine on the same network that were running Windows 7 and 8.  Out of the box the Yoga 2 would make an internet connection for about 5 seconds and then disconnect.  I then manually loaded the latest wifi adapter drivers using a USB drive which allowed the connection to last for up to 30 seconds before disconnecting.  I turned off all the power saving features and it made no difference.  The fix was change the security setting on my Linksys router from WEP to WPA2-Personal.  After  I did this everything worked fine.
