Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

You guys probably already know this, but Lenovo stopped updating wifi drivers for Y2P at 16.5.3.6 version. Now it's  2 months old and Intel updated 7260 drivers twice since then. The latest available is 16.7.0.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23493

Each updated driver features better stability and Intel recommends it for those suffering from "Sporadic wireless disconnects caused by data reordering issue".

I mentioned before in my ealier posts that it's important to set wifi security encryption to WPA2 and AES+TKIP

WEP is outdated and unsecure.

I have always said that this is either an OS or Intel issue... NOT LENOVO.

whatever is causing the problem it is happening to the majority of yoga devices . .

not worth the risk or the headache to have to change settings etc. .

a $1000+ portbale hybrid device shouyld have wifi working perfect fresh out of the box. .

maybe theyll get it right on the yoga 3.  .

Like I said, this is an Intel driver issue. Not Lenovo. Sony Vaio is also experiencing the same drop connection using the same Intel N card. Read the Intel community posts.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

So the sony vaio flip and the yoga 2 have the same wifi?

i really dont know much about wifi hardware at all but from what im reading the yoga 2 and the vaio have similar wifi but not the same.  .the yoga is single and the vaio is dual band?

there are 2 models of Intel's base 7260 wifi card and the lower of those is not dual band (which is on the Yoga). . .

and the yoga cannot connect to  5ghz ???   can the sony????

I really dont know what anything i just typed even means. .:smileysad:

I just want a a computer that hooks up to the wifi and gives good speed. .seems to much to ask with these hybrids. .my phone can do it . .a $1000+ laptop should be able too.. right?

.i think its just too early in the game.  .maybe stick with a macbook and wait it out a year or two . .seems to be problems with all these hybrids. .

I don't think this is a correct driver, as 7260 is not a listed card. Here is the download to the lastest driver for 7260, and it is still at 16.6.0:

Yes, Intel did mess up with the numbers, but take a look here:

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-034535.htm

Intel recommends updating the driver to version 16.7.0, and the 7260 is on the list.

Also, I updated my driver and all the components (libraries etc.) are 16.7.0 now, ProSET is 16.7.0 too, but in the Device Manager there is still an older number.

Just another mess from Intel... but worth to try if someone has disconnection issues.
