Disable HT mode

Open Network and Connection centre Click on change adapter settings Click on configure Click on advanced Click on HT mode and select disable Click on OK (or apply)

been rock solid ever since.... not sure wht some are having a problem after this...

Disabling HT mode is basically disabling N and AC (for those that upgraded cards), so you are stuck with a  802.11g. That is definitely not a satisfactory solution for a laptop manufactured in 2013.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2013-12-27, 6:17 AM

I just got my Y2P a couple of days ago with 64-bit Windows 8.1 and I've not been able to get the WiFi link to my Netgear router work until today.

I updated all drivers from Lenovo and the last thing I did was get the Intel driver update that you mentioned. The WiFi still didn't work.

Finally, I ran the Intel Wifi utility that comes with the Intel Pro Wireless package, and I changed from WPA2 Personal AES to TKIP. Now the network is solid as a rock!

Does this mean that it is a WPA encryption rather than WPA2? I tried WPA Personal with the same WiFi password, but it didn't accept it.

Thanks to all in this community for their helpful tips!

I can guess the reason for your successful connectivity is again due to driver issue with Wireless-N. Forcing the router to use the TKIP encryption results to 54 Mbps Wireless-G connection which doesn't suffer much problems compared to N. Still, it's not viable to for the WiFi not to connect to a WPA-2 AES encryption. I have a WNR2000 Netgear wireless-N at home with WPA2 AES encryption and the 7260 adapter connects fine, albeit with occassional huge ping spikes that are minimized by forcing the adapter to run in wireless-g mode.

If you still can't connect with the WPA 2 AES encryption, update your Netgear's firmware and see if you can connect. Don't ignore this one since many university WiFis use the WPA 2 AES encryption and your laptop might not be able to connect to those Access Points with those type of security.

At johnbor, thank you for the note on disabling HT Mode. After hours and hours of trying different solutions, this one worked great. At least for the last 24 hours and haven't traveled with it yet, but was able to lock on to the home network and has been very solid so far.

thanks!

The sad news for 7260N is that it works fine for some people with a single band N router at some place while it's unstable for others. In short, the 7260N drivers are still not stable enough for most routers out there. I suspect it's the OS too. The Windows 7 drivers work fine for mine (Lenovo Y470 with the N7260) and I get solid connection like Revans310. However, the 7260N ping average is much higher than my friend's HP (Windows 8.1) with Ralink RT5390R wifi card. The Intel card has way more ping spikes than the Ralink as well which is irritating when you're watching a continuous streaming video or using internet radio or on a skype video call. If this Intel card didn't cost me $25 back in June 2013, I would've bought a Broadcom card already.

What sucks about the Y2P is that the laptop uses the NGFF form factor and Intel 7260s are the only cards currently available in that form.

@ indest

I suggest to buy the 7260AC NGFF then buy a reliable wireless-AC router. It should help fix your disconnection issues.

I sympathize with your frustration but why should Lenovo support an issue that is not related to their laptop. This is either an Intel or Win8.1 issue. Mine works fine on any B,G and some N routers but not all N routers.
