Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

I highly doubt you have any defects on the Intel wifi card. So many people are having drop connections on N routers, but so many people (like me) have no issue connecting to other routers.

Best thing to do is take your Yoga to a friends house, internet cafe or university with different routers. My university has Cisco N routers and sometimes it takes 10-15 seconds for a connection but then it drops for 10 seconds or so. My friend has an AC router and I have no issues. I connect to G routers with no issues.

This in my opinion is a driver issue with either Intel or Win8.1..not Lenovo.

Run this to see if you have any defects on your Intel card..

Did you run it as Win7 compatibility? You should also become part of this forum..

I have no issues at all and we really need to stop pointing the finger at Lenovo.  Good way to test this is connecting the Y2P to a G router. Does the connections drop? If not, then this is not Lenovo's fault.

This wifi drop seems more prevalent on N routers. Therefore, it is either Intel or Win8.1 issue (I've said this many times before within this tread).

With all due respect, this is a Lenovo Branded product with their "quality control". Frankly, if you buy  new car (say a MB 300) and 10% has bad motors, would you blame the car company or the motor maker?

I too have a G router for testing purposes.  You have to make sure your router is set to WPA2 Personal with AES encryption.  This setup gives me no drop connections on my G router.  However, on my N router it is more of a challenge. I think some of the Intel drivers causes some sort of conflict OR Win8.1 is not communicating accurately with N routers.

I too have a wireless G router with AES encryption. Even if it is a picky wifi issue, what will happen when I go to a hotel, school, coffee shop, etc, am I entitled to have them reconfigure their routers for me?

So you're acknowledging the fact that it does work on a G router? So how is that a defect? Definition of defect is incapable of connecting to any B G N or even AC routers. This is not a defect, this is clearly a driver issue.

Why on earth would Lenovo continue to produce and sell defective products?? So they can lose future customers??? It does not make any sense at all.

No I am saying it does not work. I have been very vocal about my problems. I meant that even if my problem is isolated and the rest was experiencing picky wifi cards....

Look at the Lenovo Ideapad z570 energy management thread and get back to me.

Ok, check out the SurfaceRT and Sony Vaio treads.. N wifi cards with drop connections. Is that Lenovo's issue?

Just out of curiosity, is your G router set to WPA2 AES Encryption?

Again, if you buy new car (say a MB 300) and 10% has bad motors, would you blame the car company or the motor maker?

...or had you never had car issues?

Also, why would Lenovo choose this card if older devices demonstrate this issue. Again, Lenovo failed to do its HW and we suffer after losing 1k +.... Lets face it a laptop that disconnects from the internet every 5-10 min is useless.

I regret this purchase so bad.... Giving Mark_Lenovo 3 more days to respond to my PM before I contact the BBB.org.

I need to return this POS immediately.

I guess I would blame the motor maker.  Regardless, just a shot in the dark, have you tried installing an AC card or a different wifi N card?
