Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

2014-03-10, 19:56 PM

Hi,

I had the same issues with the Wifi that are described in the post, I installed all the drivers that were suggested but they did not work (for example the 16.10 didnt connect to any network so I had to go back to the previous one). While checking the performance in the Task Manager of my windows 8.1 I discover that the IPv6 was connected and with an IP but this IP was changing every 10 seconds or so. I did not know if it was something normal but I went to the properties of the Wifi connection and disable Internet Protocol Version 6, since then I had no more disconnections, no more dropping in the speed and that was a month ago... I think is worthy to try it, I did not see it in the post but it's 77 pages long so I was not able to read it all.

Hope you can solve the issues with the WIFI.

regards

Jose

All,

Looks like we have an updated wifi driver in beta test.  Results sound promising so far....

No official ETA yet, but I suspect it should be available within the next two weeks.

Will this be a repackaged intel crap driver or can we expect a real fix?

Have some of you tried the inbox Windows 8.1 driver? Uninstall the one provided by Lenovo and try again.

I wish I could reproduct the same problem on my Yoga 2 Pro, but my Intel card is not affected.

Hi indest,

thanks for posting and I understand the frustration you have with issue. For what its worth it is affecting us too and our teams have been back and forth with card manufacturers to understand the issue to avoid any future mishaps.

From what I've been told, the drivers are still in testing and from the looks of it seems to stable. To answer your question this will not be a repackaged drivers. It will be tested to fit our systems before released to the public for use.

Hope this explains it.

Regards

Good to know you guys were able to reproduce this problem.

All this laptop needs is stable Wifi, fixed trackpad driver (so it won’t deselect text automatically if the mouse speed is cranked up), fixed yellow issue on the last 2 power plans (power saver and stable mode) and the EM non-genuine battery bug fixed.

Fix those things and I’ll keep my mouth shut. :)

FWIW, I don't want stable mode to be ever "fixed" because the only way to do so is to increase energy drain from battery and that defeats the power saving. This is based on a very prinicple of pentile display way of working.

It's good to have at least one mode with broken yellow color and one extra hour of battery time. There are times (like long word processing, no need for accurate yellow color) when this mode could be very useful.

There must be choice for everyone.

Well for that, just make a new power plan.... I would delete those 2 power plans and shut-up but, I can't delete the power saver and stable mode is re-created by the EM software. I for one would like to have everything working, the way it should be. I know I am not alone as many have expressed their discontent with the current yellow situation.

Will the new driver help the bluetooth disconnect also?

I  don't know if this will help anyone, but I'm noticing a big improvment if I have WMM turned on! My router had it disabled and after turning it on I started getting 60-70mbit/s instead of 20-25mbit/s.
