2 Weeks ago a Lenovo representative was talking about a new driver potentially fixing the issue. According to him the driver should be out very soon.

Yes, that is why Lenovo is working with Intel on a new driver. However, the next generation of Yoga 2 Pro will have the option to customize with dual-band ac wifi card.

I agree.  I swapped the card in mine with a 7260ac.  It uses the same drivers and the problem remained.  Really appears to be a driver issue.  Disabe/enable required often when coming out of suspend or shutting the lid and other random drops.  Like I said before, bought a cheap USB wifi adapter and has been fine ever since.  I'll retire the usb adapter when the drivers get fixed.

Are you connected to the 5 GHz band? 7260AC shouldn't  have problems whatsoever on that frequency.

People keep praising the 5ghz network, but in reality there is no practical use for me. I own a top notch wireless router ( Netgear R7000) and the range is just not good enough when you are living in a house(thats not made out of wood) with a back yard. In apartment buildings the 5ghz band might be a good solution, but the range doesnt even come close to the 2,4ghz band.

In this thread we should focus on fixing things that should be working (i.e. 2.4 ghz band with the 7260 adapter)

Here's something that appears have worked for me.  I downloaded the 16.10.0.5 drivers straight from intel.  These did not fix the problem.  But a work around is to change your drivers to exclusively G.  The problem might be in either the N side or possibly switching back and forth.  In doing this, I Set the 802.11m channel width for auto, roaming aggressiveness to 5 (highest), then wireless mode to 802.11g.  So far in this configuration I have yet to see a dropped connection.  Its a work around and you sacrifice the better speeds of N, but honestly I'll take a steady connection in a heartbeat.

Also for the record, I am now using a vaio and while it was running perfectly under 8.0 as I stated earlier (what it came preinstalled with), the moment I switched to 8.1 I encountered the same issues again.

I also can't understand why my internet speed thru wifi is so slow/unstable (40mbps - 120mbps: usually around 50)

People who upgraded to 7260AC but still using the 2.4 GHz band won't be able to see large improvements with stabilty and speed as they're the same card (microarchitecturally)  with the same drivers. The 2.4 Ghz band on the 7260 is just not as stable as older laptops with different WiFi models. At least the 7260 N on my Y470 is stable though not suitable for online gaming, but I've long abandoned that crowded frequency and now reaping the benefits of the 5 Ghz band: lag free WiFi with always 300 Mbps speed. IMO, Intel is now focusing on the AC and 5 GHz band as such they left the 2.4 GHz N band broken for some laptop configuration.

If that's the case though, why would they even sell or manufacturers even include a 2.5ghz-only card in the first place? There are at least 3 different brands I saw at BB yesterday that ALL use the 7260 single band chipset.  Unless intel cut them a deal to get rid of stock, it doesn't make sense.
