These cards are not 2.5 ghz only.... they also run at 5 ghz. However, 5ghz range sucks.

Also having issues with this. I'm just commenting here to get an update if a Lenovo employee posts about better drivers.

FWIW I'm using a TPLink TL-WN722N usb dongle and it worked instanly when I installed its drivers. If anyone here is looking for a super reliable USB antenna this one is super reliable and cheap, $15 on newegg right now

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Complaint:

(not a fix for those of you who are skimming)

I have the Yoga Pro 2, for about 2 months now. I read about these issues before I bought it and took the chance that it wouldn't happen to me. After about a month, it started. Randomly, I would lose the connetion, while I was in the middle of surfing a webpage or transfering a file. It had nothing to do with a weak signal, I was in very close range to the access point:

  • 1) First if would stop commnicating
  • 2) I would wonder over and click the wifi indictor on the bottom right
  • 3) Instead of showing the several Wifi routers in our neighborhood it usually shows, it would only show mine.
  • 4) I would click on my access point and it would tell me the connection was limited.
  • 5) I would then try shutting it off and on again, with the little switch toggle Windows 8 displays above the connections
  • 6) It would shut off
  • 7) I try to turn it back on, it refuses to respond
  • 8) I start the Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center> Change adapter settings
  • 9) I disable the device there.
  • 10) I re-enable the INtel Wireless N7260 device
  • 11) Go back to the Windows 8 right side panel and turn it on again
  • 12) It works for about 10 minutes
  • 13) Fails again
  • 14) Goto step 1

I really hope this is figured out with drivers and not some hardware issue.

I've been using a USB wifi dongle as a quick fix, a VERY dissapointing problem for a $1600 coputer.

@ djmatte: your solution works for me ! (Select only g and not b/g) I was unable to perform a 2 hours download before (so I plugged in an Ethernet wire) but I forgot to do it this morning and 2-3 hours without loosing connection ! I'm using last drivers with a poor 23 mbts connection. Will try the same solution with the 16.5.3.6 ^^
Edit : I have said nothing, disconnections appears again..

So any updates? I had an X1 Carbon with the same issue. Tried to go to a Yoga 2 Pro, and now I am seeing it's the same NIC! :< This is SUCH a BAD experience for a $1200 laptop.

I have a feeling that their flagship Ideapad is not their #1 priority. My frustration grows each day. I cannot count the amount of disconnects I have had today. I have been trying to keep my cool and even help in the community. However, I think this issue is gonna get the best of me. I really don’t think they understand how frustrating it is to be watching a lecture that must be re-loaded from the beginning just because the WIFI crashed and the video system does not allow you to jump forward. Between this and the horrible trackpad driver, productivity is out the door.

I am making an effort Lenovo, please meet me 1/2 way.

I've noticed that it tends to misbehave quite frequently with weaker signals. Not out of range, not even close, but essentially anything less than perfect signal and it starts dropping. So pretty much if you have less than 4 bars.

Maybe not very useful info to anyone with their router already set up for max range, but some of us running at less than 100% signal output or fatter bandwidth channels could switch things up to get our crippled y2p working throughout the house until Intel decides to do something about this garbage wifi adapter.

I could also be entirely wrong and mine just decided to work for the past few days for unrelated reasons. It is generally very erratic so I can't say I'm entirely convinced on this theory.
