Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

For those who are thinking that it's the Intel's WiFi at fault can now try an alternative. There are now Broadcom WiFi AC cards in NGFF M.2 Form! Hopefully the BIOS will accept this card and will resolve people's problems: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BCM94352Z-NGFF-M-2-WiFi-WLAN-Bluetooth-4-0-802-11ac-up-to-867-Mbps-card-22-30mm-/201051644736

Lenovo Y470: i7-2670QM | 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM | Nvidia GeForce GT 550M | 500 GB 7200 RPM Seagate HDD | ASUS PCE-AC56 802.11ac Network Adapter | Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

@indest:

I am responding to m_orest issue which s/he mentions nothing in regards to WiFi issue.  If you read the question from m_orest, it clearly states a shutdown issue.  Your response to m_orest was "use your best judgment".  Obviously you have no technical or critical thinking skills (no pun intended).

However, as a Tech myself, I have fixed numerous issues and by far, re-installing just the OS on my Y2P worked flawlessly.  Additionally, I never had any WiFi issues but took upon myself to upgrade to an AC card which has exceeded my expectations of WiFi speeds.

I am merely trying to help and offer my best experience to this forum.  Telling people to use "your best judgment" is not by any means technical help.

The "use your best judgment" was code to "read between the lines". Apparently, being blunt on this forum is not allowed. That said, put those neurons to work ;).

To help your neurons out, I don't see this problem being fixed. The newest Lenovo driver, 16.10.5, fails to fix the issue. Hence, even if this issue is software related, we might as well call this hardware failure if it is never going to work....

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Had same problem and returned it for another one as an exchange.  Hoping to think that i just had a defective one and wanted to give Levono benefit of doubt....  same wifi dropping problem!  my son's and my other laptop doesnt drop at all so i know it's the yoga 2 pro...

I am returning it for a full refund and I am not ever going to purchase Levono product again!  What a shame for a laptop that could have been great...

My advise is that you return it before it is too late!

Re: Yoga 2 Pro Wifi Problems

Recieved my Yoga 2 pro last week.

Superhub 2 router at home = Wifi is fine and very fast

Then connected to a few wifi networks with no issue (public, personal hotspot)

then tried to connect to another SuperHub 2 router at a different house = Wifi keeps dropping out / switching to limited connectivity

Forcing "G" connection and the new drivers do not fix :(

Sorry to hear you decided to give up and return your Yoga 2. Many peole found fixes by the following:

1. purchase dual band router for home usage

2. replace wifi card with an AC card

3. tweak router settings

and join Intel's forums as this is related to Intel and NOT Lenovo.

Just out of curiosity, what are you using for a router? Most people who had wife issues, upgraded the firmware to dd-wrt and have resolved drop issues.

Has anyone tried the new 17.0.0 drivers from the Intel website? Also, is everyone downloading the Windows 8.1 drivers not the Windows 8 drivers? That might make a difference.
